Thoughts on Lamar Miller and Isaiah Crowell?

Recommended Posts

AKA the "God, I REALLY don't want this guy as my RB2 but my draft board says..." twins.

I'm throwing this out there because I have another draft tonight and one more tomorrow and literally every draft I've been in this season I find myself sitting there in the late 2nd or 3rd round, looking for an RB, and these two are sitting there staring at me leading to 3-5 minutes of me asking myself if I *REALLY* want to be heading into the year counting on one of them starting for me week in and week out.

What are FFToday's thoughts on these two? Are either of them worth their ADP or are you better off reaching a bit for a guy with a higher ceiling like Cook, McCaffery, or - hell - even Zeke?

Good question. I'm like you...I won't draft guys I don't like. I don't care if they play great and I lose money....I just don't want them for whatever reason.

Now in this scenario, I wouldn't bang my head at picking Crow because I like what the Browns are doing, ESPECIALLY if you are in a standard league because the Duke will get all the passes.

I do not like Miller so NO COMMENT.

I like Miller a little more because Houston isn't nearly as bad as Cleveland and I think they'll do a little better this year with the atrocious Osweiller gone

I dont like nor will I draft either

If I am in a situation where I am looking at those 2 guys, I will pass, take a guy like Demaryius and grab Ty Mont, Martin, Powell, Abdullah, Ingram/AP(really later) later

I like Crowell, I think he'll get a ton of carries and will get better and better as their O-line and QB improves.

Lamar Miller has been over rated since Matthew Berry put him on the "love" list at miami.

Crowell over Miller all day. Foreman willl be the RB by end of year in Houston

This is a good post and thanks for asking it. N

It's a easy one for me, I've been posted about Miller being over rated and he is.

Crowell is worthy of that pick.

Crowell on a better team is a top 5 pick. He will return great value this year for anyone drafting him anywhere in late round 3 plus....

I took a lot of heat by saying Miller wont be a top 10 RB last year.

I think he will be better this year, but not by as much as people think.

I still dont think he will be a top 10 back. He is 100% RB2. Draft him higher at your own peril.

Houston does not seem to play to Miller's strengths. Plus he can not handle the full work load of a every down back. He's a good rb but made for a committee.

You think Kizer did enough last night? I don't.

Even if Kizer is starting, it smells like a stacked box / playing from behind situation week in and out.

I think Osweiler and the lack of a DeAndre Hopkins threat burned Miller's value more than anything. The offense was too predictable.

cant argue with that. it was a huge disappointment for owners of Lamar. I had traded Gronk for him so when he went down it didnt hurt as much.

Crow won't face any more stacked boxes this year than last year. As far as Kizer goes, he's better than B.O.

As much as l like doing my analysis based on pre-season performance, I feel good about the moves Cleveland made on the OLine, and if Coleman stays healthy, they will have two good receiving option with Britt. Njoku can develop nicely and I've read that Duke Johnson may end up line up at a slot package. That was what my "as their Oline and QB play improves" comment was about, they have no where to go but up.

I dont' think Kizer is going to blow the doors off, but I think they have too many weapons to stack the box over and over. I also don't think Duke Johnson will be able to overtake Crowell, whereas I think Miller can get taken over by Foreman (at least lose significant carries to him).

I see Crow as being a near 1000 yard RB this year, which all goal line duties.

Crowell 4.8 YPC

Miller 4.0 YPC

Miller had 80 or so more carries in 2016. If Crowell gets more carries this year, he's clearly a better value.

Picking #3 in a `14 team PPR so Crowell is someone I am strongly considering with the second pick at 26. Not planning on drafting Miller at all if I can avoid it. I would like to grab McCaffrey at 31 but I know he will likely be gone so if both are there at 26 I am leaning towards Crowell as my (gulp!) RB1.

What makes you say that? They got rid of their top playmaker on offense from last year and replaced him with what? A healthy Corey Coleman?

Kenny Britt?

1000 yards on an even worse team last year with a terrible quarter back...

Offensive weapons there are gonna be fine.

Crowell is in a bad offense that could be better or worse than last year. Depends on how you view their off-season moves.

Miller is on a bad team too but he was in a new offense and new system last year. They signed Miller to a decent contract and I don't think he was bad enough last year for them to jump ship already. He's a weapon if he's properly utilized.

Browns have what's looking like a much better O-Line than the Texans. That's a factor. And Coleman/Britt will be a good combo. I'm excited about Coleman.

Because he ranked 2nd in the league last year (only behind Ajayi) @ 23.8%.

yep.

but the line in Houston was really bad last year.

I have to believe they cant be much worse than they were last year, but I dont see a large amount of improvement.

This will Hurt Millers value as much as any other factor. and this is largely why I am calling him as not being a top 10 guy.

The "contract year", did not know this. Definitely good motivation to get paid barring injury

I've seen the Browns offensive line ranked as high as 2nd for this year. Crow will be top 10 easy if he stays healthy. Last year, the Browns had a bad offensive line and noodle arm Kessler at QB. Kizer can at least fling it 60 yards down field. Teams that do stack the box will probably pay for it. Plus, Browns improved their defense so they won't always be playing from behind every game. Crowell will do fine.

I don't know much about Miller. He seems to run hot and cold. I'm not high on him at all.
