Reality 3,121 Posted December 18, 2017 never hit the ground it's magically resting against the side of his hand http://larrybrownsports.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/jesse-james-catch.jpg Probably did, where is the picture that proves it? To overturn the TD you would need to have indisputable evidence.. I'm still waiting..
nzoner 937 Posted December 18, 2017 Everyone talking about the non TD call and nothing about the receiver getting mauled prior to the INT which was clearly a PI which also sealed the game.I didn't have a dog in the fight but I've seen a lot lesser contact in the NFL result in a PI call. You're right on the indisputable part. My guess is, they saw it move, like everyone else and assumed it hit the ground. Not the 1st time a call has been overturned based on assuming. Cruzer 1,995 Posted December 18, 2017 The ball hit the ground. Dumb rule though. Seems to me once you break the plane it should be over. I suppose the problem is what if you never had possession before breaking the plane? But in this case he clearly did. Exactly my thoughts on this......... He had possession and broke the plane well before the ground ever came into play - Touchdown. Just another example of how the NFL is ruining their game. Just another example of how the NFL is ruining their game. It's all Calvin Johnson's fault. All that bitching and moaning for a meaningless TD, for a meaningless team, has caused this

edjr 6,601 Posted December 18, 2017 https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DRSqRndUEAA3YFw.jpg anyone with a brain knew it hit the ground, right?? still, the video didn't show it to be conclusive. I want to know how they could assume conclusiveness?
parrot 789 Posted December 18, 2017 anyone with a brain knew it hit the ground, right?? still, the video didn't show it to be conclusive. I want to know how they could assume conclusiveness? I thought the goal line view was very conclusive. I honestly can't even believe people are still bothering to argue it. The ball clearly came out of his control when he hit the ground and the league has been pretty consistent in this call for at least a couple years now. Reality 3,121 Posted December 18, 2017 https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DRSqRndUEAA3YFw.jpg Where was that angle from and did the refs have that picture when they reviewed it? I believe the ball hit the ground, that doesn't matter.. I want to know how the refs made the determination that there was inconclusive evidence that forced them to overturn the call.. I thought that was needed, even with that picture, we can't see his other forearm. How it was up against the other side of the ball..

listen2me 23 1,873 Posted December 18, 2017 No catch by the rule I guess. I would maybe argue catching it and then reaching for teh GL is a "football move" and then the ground can't cause a fumble. But other than that it isn't a catch by the rule. But yeah I agree the rules are blurred and dumb. Would help their product if they came up with a much easier formula for a catch next year. tanatastic 2,062 Posted December 18, 2017 Cruzer won this thread. Bullsh!t. I won it back on the first page when I said the same thing. Neither of you won anything besides showing you have little knowledge of the rule. The ground does come in to play since he was in the process of making the catch and going to the ground. The whole break the plane thing only applies when he has made the catch and is not falling to the ground, has control and is making his way to the goal line. This is not argueable or debateable. There is no rebuttal. The validity of the rule can be debated sure, but the result of the play cannot.
mighty_thor 115 Posted December 18, 2017 Well the good thing about the Patriots benefiting from this call is that they will now finally change the catch rule. Anytime the pats win because of a controversial rule or by exploiting a rule, the NFL ends up changing the rule.
