titans&bucs&bearsohmy! 2,745 Posted February 6, 2018 There is the album version which is better imo. That whole album is incredible btw. If you dont know Grace, by Jeff Buckley, do yourself a favor and give it a spin, if you like that sort of thing.
nzoner 936 Posted February 6, 2018 I always felt that Hallelujah was one of those songs that we were all supposed to be amazed by because some critics said so. Sort of like when the media tries to tell us a chick is hot when she's not. It's not horrible or anything, but it's not worthy of the hype IMO. Personally I love the song BUT give me Rufus Wainwright's version from the soundtrack of Shrek.
NorthernVike 2,080 Posted February 6, 2018 I know it would be a royal pain in the ass but, how cool would it be if the official draft list was a link to the song.
jerryskids 5,213 Posted February 6, 2018 Fock it, Im going rap to start this off. And this was the best one from the 90s IMO. 1.15 Nuthin But A G Thang - Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg Great pick, on my short pick of rap for the decade.

Sort of like when the media tries to tell us a chick is hot when she's not. It's not horrible or anything, but it's not worthy of the hype IMO. I first heard it when they used it in the west wing, and frantically scanned the credits to find the name of the song. I love the mix between religious and sexual imagery. I think its beautiful. But to each their own of course.
vuduchile 1,941 Posted February 6, 2018 Well Fock. Both the #1 pick I wanted and the backup are gone. (Losing my religion and One.) Ill just take a favorite. 1.13 - Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley Damnit again.
mobb_deep 917 Posted February 6, 2018 If I recall from your age you were in middle/high school for most of the decade, so... hopefully she taught you well #youtoo. For the record, I graduated HS in 93. Im just a few years younger than you.

My take, from a hack musician standpoint: Its amazing partially because the rhythm and melody are very simple. This allows Buckley to sing those amazing lyrics with a level of emotion rarely seen in music.
