Dallas Cowboys 2018 & Beyond

Recommended Posts

Looks like Dan Quinn is staying put. Now the question is, is he gong to be the DC or the HC? Love the Dallas soap opera. It’s better than the the Ewings. Except this season wasn’t just a dream.

Same here. On both ends. McCarthy needs to have more input in the offense. Lol.

Since this thread was created / inspired by the signing of Amari Cooper, I thought it was fitting to post this news....

yeah I struggle with that as well with him

So basically this video and story focuses on Amari's lack of effort late in the San Fran playoff game. I've noticed that as well many times since he's been a Cowboy. I really like him, but I don't understand why he comes and goes the way he does.

I’ll trade you Galladay for him.

Meh - Amari's demise is just as much the Cowboys fault as it is his own.

Is he talented? Absolutely. But the dude flat out disappears for stretches every year, and in big games way too often..... That being said, Dallas is focking clueless on how to utilize their talents. Cupp, Debow and Adams were always double teamed - their teams found ways to still get them the ball. As with many things here, it's a culture problem.

Zeke is scheduled to count $18m against the cap in 2022, so really - what difference does it make.

Supposedly there were 5 teams interested and a 5th round pick is the best they can do?  IDK

Buy him for a 1st round pick, over pay him, sell him for essentially a 5th round pick.  He'll be 28 in June.

Cooper is overpaid but I’m surprised they couldn’t get a Day 2 pick. As an NFCE fan I’m glad they let him go though. 👍🏻

yep, but 20 mil for 1 year is a good risk too, Chargers just gave 60/3 to Mike Williams and I would say they are similar, reports are Kirk is going to get 15+ a year

seems like they coulda got a 3 imo

I’m surprised too. Just saying, he’s paid Top 10 $ but isn’t a Top 10 receiver.

When everyone knows he's going to be cut, there is only so much you can get.

Cowboys 2022 Draft Picks

Round 1: No. 24 overall
Round 2: No. 56 overall
Round 3: No. 88 overall
Round 4: No. 127 overall
Round 5: Nos. 154, 166 and 175 overall
Round 6: No. 191 overall

As far as the cap goes, Gehlken reported the Cowboys now have an extra $16 million in cap space. Prior to the move, Dallas was listed as having $19.7 in cap space, per Over the Cap. This trade pushes them close to $36 million in cap space, giving them the sixth-most room in the NFL.

Now they have no wr's and Gallop probably gone as well. got to double dip on wr's in this draft. Zeke they wore the legs off who they should have let go. Dallas for ya!

Gregory . Lol.  Zero loyalty to the team that stuck with him and all his bullshit.

Same deal with Broncos as Cowboys offered, except the Cowboys had an out if he got suspended again and the Broncos don't.  He can be their problem for the next few years.  I guess he knows he's getting suspended again and again.  And I'm a Nebraska fan and Dallas Cowboys fan who liked Randy Gregory.

Nope they let Amari go so they could sign Gallop, done deal.  Wilson hurts, but, Gallop and Lamb arent a bad duo.

Also, Dlaw restructures contract to free up even more space. We're going on a spending spree this spring.

Cowboys reportedly had an equal 5 year 70 million dollar offer to Gregory that matched the Bronco's.  So much for loyalty for sticking with the kid through all his sh!t.  Supposedly the drama went all the way through today, Gregory having second thoughts.  Better to let the mental case go.

Cowboys resign Armstrong and Carlos Watkins to the D-line so Gregory is the only loss.  They added Dan Quinn project Donte Fowler on a one year deal to compete with Armstrong.  Mathematically they should still have 60 million or so out of Gregory's 70 to spend on other guys.

Cowboy's free agent list seemed long in the beginning, but, they've already re-signed 12 of their own players, added guys to shore up their two biggest loses in Cooper/Wilson and Gregory and still have plenty of money to spend.

Salary Cap:  Not sure where the exact number is, but, D-Law restructuring saved 13 million, Prescott's restructure saved 16 million and Cooper leaving saves 16 million.

Dallas could be $100m under the Cap, wouldn't matter. The days of Charles Haley/Deion Sanders type mega signings are over. You have to go back to what, 2006 and T.O? Before that 2000 and L. Glover to find a superstar FA signing. Seems ever since the Brandon Carr fiasco Jerry has turned full circle on his FA philosophy.

I'm sure a lot of it is Stephen's ever growing "tight ass" voice at the head of the table.......but still, be nice to make a splash now and then.

ugh, how old are you? and when did the Cowboys kick your team's a$$ to make you so bitter?

The NFL is entertainment, and my team is one of the most entertaining. There was much progress made this past year even with league manipulation.

The salary cap only counts for bad teams and second level players on good teams. If a player is good and worth his contract they will find a way.

Losing Conner Williams didnt bother me too much, but, losing La'el Collins is the suck. Had high hope's for the kid. Saves another 10 million in cap space.
