So. 49ers vs Patriots for the SB

Recommended Posts

SEA getting between 5.5 to 6.5 pts, depending on the book.

Wow - I'd prolly jump all over that.... Then again, I'm the worst football gambler of all time - so SF prolly does win and cover.

Have to admit I like this 49'r team. I feel the 49're dynasty through the Cowboys of the 90's was the golden age of football and history will reflect that.

This is going to be a great matchup.

On one hand, I want the 49ers to lose - and big - because of a few posters here jumping the gun on declaring a SB victory already.  ;)

On the other hand, I hate Pete Carol with the heat of a thousand suns.  That gum-chewing b@stard irritates me to no end.

So, who should I root for?  Someone convince me one way or the other.

As much as it pains me to say, pull for the 49ers. Seahawks have been a solid team for long enough. I like Wilson and can’t stand Sherman, which is why it’s pains me to say pull for the 49ers.

That aside, the primary reason is that when the Packers curb-stomp the undefeated 49ers, it’ll mean more.

Packers won’t actually curb-stomp them, but it was the fun thing to type.

This is actually a great game for football fans.  The chess match between a highly talent Offense vs a/the top Defense.  I always like to see how these play out.

I agree. Although it likely won’t live up the the hype in my head, I’m really looking forward to the game. Hopefully it’s a good one.

Back then nearly every Monday night game was must see. And Thanksgiving dinner was always served around halftime of the Dallas game. Now we are oversaturated with games that it's no big deal. Just put it on pause.

Niners have to go 6-2 the rest of the way with one of those beating the Saints to lock up HF. Schedule is brutal for the second half of the season. Can't wait

off the top of my head: sea x2, rams, nos, gbp, bal... how does a 4-12 team draw that?

Yep. As a kid I loved the 85 and later bears. Then the niners dynasty. By the cowboys, I was old enough to be a contrarian pr!ck and hate them.

hard to envision them not losing somewhere along the way.  taking this one vs sea at home would be very helpful.

one game at a time boys.

Packers and Cowboys cost the  Niners at LEAST 2 SB's in that era.

But hating them was fun. Until the game started and they beat the other team to death and smiled while doing it. Thank god the 49'rs took them out once in a while

Is Seattles offense that talented? I havent reallly watched much of them. Just thought Russell Wilson was playing out of his mind this year. Hes the type of QB that might be able to beat the Niners because he just makes random plays by happen.

that, and Lockett is having a true opportunity to play vs all of the questions when baldwin was with him. Carson is an excellent back. metcalf can catch the long balls and is a major red zone target.... and they had dissley playing well, until going on IR.  They have the ability to move the ball on the ground and through the air

I actually do not think their defense is good (a little better than average)

There defense is less than average. I'm not worried about scoring on them.  Russel focking Wilson though. If we are not up big late with a kneel down situation I'll be worried.

They're not going to go 6-2.  4-4 at best.  NO and GB are going to be two losses right there.

They can't play Washington, Arizona and Miami every game!  😛

Had to follow someone in the playoffs when the Pats were out of it, which was all the time.

There is a whole generation of Giants fans here because the Patriots didn’t come into existence until 1960

You should go for the niners. If you're not a true 12, then we don't need ya.

You and HT are cut from the same cloth.  Drew Bledsoe had pretty good run before Brady.  The team has had nothing but sellouts since '94.

  As a KC fan hating Denver that 40+ point drubbing they took by Montana and the 9er's was a thing of beauty. That Doug Williams Redskin Super Bowl run was great as well.

I was at that game in New Orleans vs Denver. Amazing. I was in college in San Diego for that Wash/Denver game.  Had a lot friends from Colorado not so happy after that one, but the parties all week leading up to it were pretty fun.

Bledsoe was damn good. Real fans know the Pats don't with the first SB without him.

Interesting,I was living in San Diego at that time as well, actually got two tickets to that Super Bowl XXII,the morning of the game at the Intercontinental Hotel.Having already been a redskin fan because of the days of John Riggins I had and wore a Hogs shirt to the game.

I'm up by about 25 points on my opponent tonight but he has Russel Wilson and I have the SF DEF.

If the SF DEF can hold off R Wilson and give me the win, I will declare them the best team in the NFC.  Deal?  Otherwise, they are held up by a creampuff schedule.  ;)

Cash league down by 33 with SF D and Shanahan(yes we start a coach and get a 5pt bonus if they win)

Free friends league down by 30 with Garapalo and SF D.

True to my word, the SF Def secured me a win last night so I will declare them the best team in the NFC right now.  😐
