Also, is the black guy from The Boys ever not an a$$hole? I liked the movie, but once I realized she was Kevin Bacon's daughter I couldn't stop seeing Kevin Bacon. A-Train baby! I really enjoy the Insidious movies but did not love this one. Worth watching though.
BeachGuy23 642 Posted October 26, 2023 Cobwebs on Hulu I'd give a 3/5. Another interesting story but you have to suspend a ton of disbelief. But still a fun ride that keeps you guessing for most of it.
posty 2,612 Posted October 26, 2023 Finished watching 1999's Audition... This was mentioned in Wikipedia and yes it was different, but not one of the best horror films ever made IMO... Audition was received positively by Western film critics on its release, with many noting the final torture sequence in the film and how it contrasts with the non-horrific scenes before. The film has appeared on several lists of the best horror films ever made, and has had an influence on other horror films and directors including Eli Roth and the Soska sisters. OldMaid 2,129 Posted October 27, 2023 The Enfield Poltergeist. Anyone plan on watching this? I seem to remember a film about this that came out awhile back, that I really enjoyed but I honestly can’t remember what it was. Just looked it up- The Conjuring 2.

Off the chart numbers at RT... Watched this last night and pretty much agree with MDC’s take. It was pretty good, but it was also very long and pretty confusing (and not necessarily in a good way). I did like it, actually maybe quite a bit, but normally that would not be a good combo for me
MDC 7,133 Posted October 28, 2023 Watched this last night on Shudder: It was pretty good! About a demonic plague in the Argentinian countryside. Not super gory but it had its moments. Obviously not in English. Same directed did this awesome movie: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/terrified_2017

Yes, it is sort of a documentary, but with no name actors lip syncing to the recorded tapes. There’s also some interviews with some of the people that were there. I had a hard time getting into it, but I know you dig documentaries so you might enjoy it.

It doesn’t count as a sacrifice so they still have to choose. They refuse, and the ending is a lot more ambiguous as to whether or not there was really an apocalypse. The book ending was much better than what M. Night did to the flick... I mean it wasn't a bad movie, just not a fan of the changes that were made...
DonS 3,292 Posted November 9, 2023 Have any of you watched Wolf Creek? https://click.justwatch.com/a?r=https://www.justwatch.com/us/movie/wolf-creek-1?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android I saw it several years ago but decided to watch it again after listening to the Serial Killers podcast about the Backpacker Murders in Australia's Belanglo State Forest. While listening I was wondering if Wolf Creek was loosely based on the killer as the description of the killer's crimes reminded me of the movie. Sure enough it was. "Head on a stick" was the only part I really remembered since it's so descriptive and horrible.

wiffleball 4,788 Posted April 26, 2024 First ten minutes or so of Jeepers Creepers was probably scariest I've seen. Also, there was an Autopsy film where, once the coroners cut her open she was covered in satanic tattoos - On the inside of her skin/organs. Poltergeist is timelessly good. It Follows is solid. Biggest mind-screw had to be the original Omen. Never did see Salems Lot. Think I read the book though.

MDC 7,133 Posted August 1, 2024 Anybody else seen Longlegs? I thought it started really strong but fumbled the ball badly in the 3rd act. Nick Cage was very creepy when you didn’t see much of him, campy and laughable at the end. Really well directed and atmospheric for the first hour. It was sort of a bummer the ending was weak. It was sort of like Silence of the Lambs and Seven mixed with an occult Satanic movie.

I went in totally blind so I didn't even know Cage was in it until I saw his name in the opening credits. Was it just me or did Cage's character look and act a lot like Jennifer Coolidge (Stifler's Mom, White Lotus)? It had to be intentional. Hail Satan
