IGotWorms Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 What’re you’re favorites? One I saw recently and enjoyed was called They Look Like People. I don’t want to spoil it but thought it came together very well in the end. Lotta good Indie-type horror movies out there on the streaming services but you have to know what you’re looking for. Quote
Filthy Fernadez Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 'Galaxy of Terror' 1981 Giant maggot has his way with woman. Slimed her worse than any Peter N0rth scene. Quote
MDC Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 They Look Like People was really good. You might like The Endless on Netflix. It was more sci-fi than horror but had some similarities. A lot of really good indie horror movies from the last 10 years or so are on Netflix: The Blackcoat’s Daughter The Witch Creep and Creep 2 Under the Skin Train to Busan Under the Shadow The Autopsy of Jane Doe Terrified (not Terrifier) On Amazon Prime you’ve got Kill List, the Innkeepers, House of the Devil. These are all really good and more or less low budget. 1 Quote

edjr Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 I saw the title and thought "this is right up MDC's alley, wait isn't there already a thread about this exact subject" Quote
edjr Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 3 from Hell was a real disappointment. no spaulding, no sense in making it (I know he died IRL) Quote

Cruzer Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 The Bad Seed Originally released in '56, I first saw it in the 70's - as a kid...... Damn, talk about being freaked out - that was one scary ass 8-year old little girl. Quote

IGotWorms Posted December 12, 2019 Author Posted December 12, 2019 I thought The Ritual on Netflix was decent. I have seen The Autopsy of Jane Doe and agree with MDC—pretty good. As Above So Below is on Netflix and it was pretty decent. I don’t generally care for the found footage genre but this was one of the better ones. The Invitation was decent. Quote
IGotWorms Posted December 12, 2019 Author Posted December 12, 2019 Oh yes, and Under the Skin was excellent. One of my favorites of any type of film Quote

RaiderHaters Revenge Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 Death of a Ghost Hunter, is the last movie that actually haunted me, could have been great with a good budget Quote
Hardcore troubadour Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 The Blob that ate Fishtown wasn't that good. 1 Quote

DonS Posted December 14, 2019 Posted December 14, 2019 I just watched 34 mins of Under The Skin. WTF??? How long do I need to watch in order for it to become a coherent and interesting movie? Edit: so I turned it off right after a bizarro scene where a couple of dudes are floating with full dong action. Is that why some posters praised this movie??? Quote
5-Points Posted December 14, 2019 Posted December 14, 2019 Mother In Law Is Moving In It's terrifying. Quote

IGotWorms Posted December 16, 2019 Author Posted December 16, 2019 Blackcoat’s Daughter was pretty darn good Definitely something different, suspect many viewers may not have liked it Quote

But I loved it. Kill List is another of my favorites from the past 10 years. Recommend going into it as blind as possible. Quote
DonS Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 I'm going to watch Blackcoat's Daughter this evening. Thanks for all the recommendations, even though I did end up turning off Under The Skin. My daughter and I watched Midsommar last night. It's a bit slow-paced and definitely pretty focked up. I enjoyed it, but I can see some folks not liking it. Quote

DonS Posted December 17, 2019 Posted December 17, 2019 Blackcoat's Daughter was OK. I feel they should have included a nice lesbian scene since it was a Catholic school girl boarding school. (the older of age girls, not the daughter from Mad Men). Just rented Kill List. Hope it's better than Under the Skin. Quote

DonS Posted December 17, 2019 Posted December 17, 2019 Kill List was enjoyable . Can't/won't say anything about it in case anyone else plans on checking it out. Quote
IGotWorms Posted December 17, 2019 Author Posted December 17, 2019 So tonight I watched I am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House. From the same guy who did Blackcoat’s Daughter, who incidentally is the son of the actor who played Norman Bates in Psycho. Anyway, it wasn’t nearly as good as Blackcoat’s Daughter. Quote
DonS Posted December 17, 2019 Posted December 17, 2019 Autopsy of Jane Doe was really good. Brian Cox is a quality actor. Also had a focking hot corpse that wasn't shy about showing it all. Quote

Fireballer Posted December 17, 2019 Posted December 17, 2019 So what so you freaks look for in a horror movie? Good ones are so hard to find. I personally like the ones that could possibly happen in real life. I get the idea that its meant to be fantasy to some degree, but I cant get into the demonic possession BS or Sci Fi. Quote
