I thought it was a good debate. As with 99% of debates, it won't move the needle. There was nothing anyone will remember in a week. That's because you had two intelligent people up there, respectfully debating. Harris predictably destroyed him on his handling of the coronavirus. But he hammered her pretty good on the way they're flip-flopping on that Green New Deal.

Both of them dodged some issues they didn't want to discuss. Harris refused to give an answer about packing the courts. Pence refused to give an answer about whether Trump would honor the election results. Harris wouldn't explain the contradiction between saying taxes won't be raised at all for anyone under $400,000 but would eliminate Trump's tax cuts from day one. Pence wouldn't explain the contradiction between saying people with pre-existing conditions would keep their health care but they're currently in court trying to take away their health care.

As predicted, Biden supporters are saying Harris won and Trump supporters are saying Pence won. I would imagine that for independents, there was no big impression made either way. More importantly, neither did anything to screw things up. I enjoyed watching the debate. Unlike that show 2 weeks ago. With Biden having a double digit lead nationally, the fact that it won't move the needle is a good thing for Harris and Biden. At this point, they just have to avoid making big mistakes. 

More importantly, it was nice to turn it off and go to be not being embarrassed to be an american like I did two weeks ago.

Not a terrible take.  The notion Kamala, at this stage in her career, could be a stones throw from the presidency is what is concerning.

Much greater chance of Biden still being with us in 2024 than Trump.  Look at their health.  Biden is still running up steps and doing pushups.  Trump is the only one out of 23 infected white house staffers to get sick enough to need hospitalization.  Plus, we still don't know why he was rushed to Walter Reed in the middle of the night a few months back. They refuse to disclose the reason. And you have the inability to lift a glass of water to his mouth without using two hands and needing assistance going down a dry, gentle ramp.   I could see Biden deciding to only serve one term and Harris being the Democratic nominee in 2024, but not at all concerned with her needing to take over for Biden during his first term.

Trump and Pence have said any health plan they will pass will take care of people with pre existing conditions numerous times. They have condemned white hate groups numerous times. Chris Wallace asked Trump about condemning white hate groups in the 2016 debates, and he did, and numerous other times after that. Too  bad ignorant people choose to ignore it.  I’d stop answering it too after a while. But they cling to it because it works for their divisive rhetoric. They have to lie to create their narrative.

Pence answered the question about transfer of power masterfully, he explained how the left still hasn't accepted the last election.  It was one of his stronger moments.  This debate wasn't close, it was an absolute beatdown at every level.

Intelligence and good choices also play a role in life expectancy.  Biden has always been much less likely to contract Covid than Trump.

And when Trump handles Covid worse than 400 lb Chris Christie, I don't think I'd be using it as a badge of toughness.  hth

If humans died in chronological order, then Trump would outlive Biden.  But by any other metric- weight, fitness, diet, past illnesses, etc, Trump would be around a 10-1 bet to go first. They're 78 and 74. They could have played on the same football team in high school. Virtually the same age.

Poor and white is more of a disadvantage. No united white college fund, no affirmative action, minority preference points on college entrance, government jobs. The deck is stacked against poor whites. Only fallback is the military where the playing field and benefits are more equal.

  Both her parents were college professors. Her great grandfather was a plantation owner with loads of slaves. What a joke that she tries to glom on to the working class. Went to Stanford.
