Christmas time in NYC advice

Recommended Posts

Wife and I are heading to NYC for 4 days to celebrate me being done with first few semesters of school. Plus, we’ve been dying to go during Christmas time (not during Christmas itself). Going to be be trying to stay in Manhattan and near a train station if possible since that’s what some of our friends were suggesting. Planning on grabbing tickets to see the Rockettes but other than that we aren’t sure if what we want to do. Any suggestions on things to do, places to go, restaurants to try, bars to go to, etc? Thanks in advance fellas

The Rockettes suck ever since they lost James Harden.

Yea we planned on strolling through Central Park. Last time I went to NYC I wasn’t old enough to drink so I’m lookin forward to hitting up a few unique bars

It just doesn’t excite me.  Not my thing.

a trip to New York is more effort for us.  I would want to see what is in town.

Gotcha. The Rockettes are just something I want to check off my bucket list. One of these “one and done” things. I’m excited to go to China town and get some good Chinese/dim sum for a meal while we are there

Ice skate in Central Park at night.

Go see Mike, and tell him I said he's a doosh.

Mike is probably his best bet for free stuff but he will probably never ask me.

If I ever had to be in NY, you'd be the first person I'd talk to. Not for free stuff, just to steer clear of the shitshow.

Also, I'd want to get your take on the best pizza.

Also, also, drinks.

Yea I’m the type that doesn’t care who you are. If you will give me actual, good advice then awesome. I hold no grudges when it comes to helping someone out or someone helping me out

Seems like some good advice.

Where would the dinner cruise be? On the Hudson?

Yup. It’s very cool seeing the city from the water at night. Plus they get real close to the Statue of Liberty. Like right next to it.

I don’t think I’d have enough time to do a dinner cruise. We are only there for 4 nights cause that’s all my wife could get off. And yea I plan on getting the tickets to the Rockettes either tonight or tomorrow. Just got done with all the trick or treaters so now I’m about to cook our steaks in the cast iron

Some of the restaurants in Queens on the East River offer dinner cruises that end up in the Hudson and like HT said - right up to the Statue of Liberty. I’d rather see it from a boat then climb it.

I’m not quite clear on your plans for tonight.

Can you provide a few more details?

What’s the best way to get around? Cabs? Uber? Subway? Trying to see how much we need to set aside for “travel” while there

Uber. Expect $40 per ride. Same cost cab. Stay away from subway.

My city is detroit and that too is a sh1thole. NYC is especially a sh1thole because it's like a dystopian nightmare. Don't forget to wear your star of David and show your papers.
