Hitler's worst WW2 mistake, second only to invading Russia.

Americans were generally opposed to sending kids to die in a European conflict over disputed Polish land. Japan was one thing after they attacked Pearl Harbor, but Germany was still another thing entirely. Until Hitler forced the hand by declaring war (done purely out of loyalty). He vastly underestimated America's industrial might, just as he miscalculated Russia's military mass.
