Poland and Taiwan have self interest to see NATO enter into a much bigger fight. The rest of Europe though, not so much. 

NATO is toothless without the US being involved. America will not go to full blown war unless there is a major attack on American soil or one of their carriers is openly attacked. 

So I don't really see it at this point. France, Germany, the rest, all of their own insular problems. Why would they want full blown war to compound them? Poland doesn't want war, but they recognize that they are in a pretty horrible overall position, so it's better to consider it now, lest 2024 POTUS changes administration and puts them in a much worse position. 

The geopolitical dynamic is very bad right now, in this you are correct, and those that blindly denounce you are ignoring some fair points you are making. 

But because you are making some specific fair points doesn't mean the math behind your entire premise here is going to naturally add up. Now something no one is talking about is the long term antagonism that a modern day version of "Lend Lease" will create. It's lots of Ukrainian blood being spilled for the interests of NATO, who won't let them join. Long term, that could create some real problems for America. Today's hero might be tomorrow's terrorist. Never forget that the US has deposed foreign leaders that they once previously supported. 

This would just be easier if you said you were a warhawk and you just plainly wanted war period. I mean Liz Cheney does it and she's not apologetic about it. The loose connect the dots that stretch this far however just doesn't fit current functional geopolitical reality in the region.

Russia Sends Nuclear Bombers To Arctic Base Ahead Of NATO Summit (radaronline.com)

In a recent demonstration of its military might, Russian President Vladimir Putin sent two nuclear bombers on a 12-hour war game to an Arctic base, sparking concerns of escalating tensions and the possibility of World War 3, RadarOnline.com has learned.

According to the Daily Star, Lieutenant-General Sergey Kobylash, commander of Russian long-range aviation, confirmed that two supersonic White Swan Tu-160 nuclear bomber planes and two strategic missile-carrying Tu-95MS planes participated in the exercise, landing in the Arctic circle.

The Tu-160s arrived at the Sovetskiy airfield in the Komi Republic in western Russia, while the Tu-95MS planes flew to the Chukotka Autonomous Area in the bitterly cold region of Siberia.

Kobylash emphasized the significance of this exercise, stating, "The Tu-160 is the most important part of the Russian nuclear triad, so the modernization of combat vehicles and the resumption of production of these strategic bombers is our priority task."

As per the thread topic, one area where Justin has a good point is there is a clear social breakdown happening all across the world right now. It's not just in the US and it's not just in Russia and Ukraine. Some very basic established long term social norms are falling apart around it. It doesn't guarantee nuclear holocaust, but the short term outcome doesn't look very good. Especially for those with kids ( i.e what kind of world will they inherit?) 

While I don't see the current geopolitical situation as an immediate threat of conventional nuclear war, the pathway to things spiraling out of control very quickly is very alarming in current times. I don't advocate living in fear, but it's not a lack of pragmatism to be alarmed right now.

Because there was a time when everybody knew each other, and Geek meets were frequent. I sent out my "Shark Dance" CD to dozens of Geeks and had their real names and addresses for mailing purposes. I ran across that notebook the other day with all those addresses while consolidating some boxes in the attic. I met an ancient Geek for a beer a couple of weeks ago when he was in town meeting his brother, and he and I have a group phone text going with three others. And the other four got together at a bar recently. I've partied with wiffleball, and he and I met up with Bert at his ranch shack for drinking, gambling, fishing and shooting guns.

My real name was linked to a lot of stuff here. I had links to four of my five albums until the links just expired.

I'm Facebook friends with a bunch of Geeks, including several who still post here.

So it wasn't all that hard for HT to research my life, run down my wives and snoop their Facebook pages and elsewhere to creepily note his knowledge of their hair color. I'm sure Justy did the same thing, only it wasn't one bit cool that he'd post something with my kid's name on it. The moderators deleted it, and I think he got a suspension for it, even though I hadn't reported him for it.

The fatal flaw for anyone here is to take themselves too seriously, take anything personal and engage in genuinely vindictive behavior, which is what that paranoid fruitcake Justy did by posting something with my kid's name attached to it and then making his veiled threat.

And he wonders why I find new and creative ways to live rent-free in a mind that whirls with the intensity of Jupiter's red spot.
