I just had dinner with friends and being in Orlando, this was a topic. The consensus was anything at Disney World is cool because the maintenance is top notch and workers are diligent on safety.  But the International Drive carney ride likely owned by Apu Patel with jank-ass maintenance.... no way in hell.

Also... odd to see a selfy video by the father within LESS THAN 24 hours uploaded to the news. If anything like that happened to my kid, I can't imagine recording selfy videos.  Perhaps his attorney thought it would help with the lawsuit.

Which leads to the next thing... unlikely this ride ever opens again as the owner will probably have a tough time getting insurance.  It's actually the 2nd death related to this ride, but the first was a maintenance worker a few years back climbing the thing... not riding on it.

The Vomitron down on 192 is my personal fave.  But yeah, all that stuff near Sea World and Universal seems super sketchy.

When our kids were little we would go to the annual Evergreen State Fair.  Exactly what you expect as far as the various carney rides.  I decided it was my last time when my son and I were in line for a ride and we watched meth head Cletus banging on what was probably an important mechanical component with a big ass wrench.

Here's full video that is in @Cloaca du jour OP.  It looks like the crew didn't check his harness. Dude is yapping his pie hole and probably hadn't done all the safety checks. You can hear him yelling something about "seatbelt" as the ride starts. It's ironic that a rider, before the ride, asks why this particular ride doesn't have the center seat belt to keep harness failure from being catastrophic. It shows the kid, unblurred, after fall.  Skip that if you don't wanna see it.  After the fall, the crew is freaking out that someone may have not checked the harness.

You have to have failsafes so this can’t happen. There’s no way you can rely on some strung out sh1thead meth addicts to make sure someone isn’t killed.

And shame on the park for hiring “people” who clearly aren’t up to the task. I know the market’s tight but also, they were super cheap, because literally no one else anywhere on earth wants anything to do with them.

My first thought was if his size had anything to do with the harness not buckling correctly or appearing to be buckled when it wasn't.

That's what I'm thinking

-Big rider who couldn't properly self adjust harness

-attendent didn't check poorly fitting harness

-then there had to be some type of failure that allowed ride to operate with a seated rider, but harness not properly locked.

They’re saying the harness was still down and locked after the ride. Not sure what could’ve happened then? But he was way over the weight limit and had been turned away from two other rides

I took my kids on a ferris wheel last summer at dewberry farms. I do not get scared of rides, but there was more rust than good steel. My daughter wanted to ride it again, but there was no way I was going on it a second time.

It is just west of Houston, I am not sure if @wiffleball has heard of it.

Not exaggerating. Dad confirms (14 y/o, 6'5 325), playing Left Tackle in a camp on a travel team out of St. Louis.

Justice for Tyre!

Orlando, Fla. - Loved ones gathered at ICON Park in honor of the 14-year-old who died after falling off the Orlando Free Fall ride.  Tyre Sampson's friends and family marched around the park, calling for the ride to be shut down.

The ground around the Orlando Free Fall is covered in handwritten messages. The messages show support for 14 year old Tyre Sampson, a high school football player from Missouri with a bright future, who lost his life after falling off the Orlando Free Fall ride Thursday.

"He was a good boy. He would give you the shirt off his back, if you needed it. He would give you his shoes off of his feet, if you needed it. He was just a sweet kid that really wanted to come here and have a good time," Shay Johnson, Sampson's cousin said. Johnson along with family, friends, and community members came to ICON Park Tuesday to march around the park.

Their rallying cry: "Take the ride down. Justice for Tyre."  "I don’t want nobody else to have to go through the hurt and pain that me and my family is going through." Johnson said.

Sampson's family said they aren't sleeping much either, and that they won't until they know no one else's child will ride the Orlando Free fall again. "Until this ride comes down. If I have to be out here from sun up to sundown until this ride comes down, I will be here," Johnson said.

Apparently Tyre's supporters are not English majors.  But they do enjoy a good protest.... even though the ride has been closed since the accident and probably won't open again due to bad press, giant lawsuit, and insurance issues.

Here's another thing ruined by the BLM movement and liberals in general.

You don't know anymore if the person who was killed was actually a great guy or not.

In this case it's "He was just a sweet kid." "He would give you the shirt off his back", "His shoes if you needed them."

But in these cases, same stuff:

Concerning George Floyd: "He was a wonderful person. The greatest brother." "We should have a statue put up of him."

Concerning Breonna Taylor: "She was such a great person. Nothing bad to say about her."

Dead black people seem to have always been the greatest people on the planet when they were alive. It's another assault on the decent black community.
