What's that thing HT is always posting?

  1. It didn't happen
  2. It's only a little bit
  3. It's no big deal

Looks like you're skipping right to it's no big deal, huh?  Who would've thought?  A democratic  member of Congress warned Twitter they were suppressing free speech and suggested they should stop for fūcks sake.

Are you too dumb to realize that a conduit in which large portions of the populations get news shouldn't be actively manipulated by government or do you just not care because it's unbalanced in your team's favor?

This certainly vindicates Trump and exposes the collusion in 2016-2020 and beyond. Democrats are the enemy.

I agree not good, but according to Taibbi the Trump campaign is guilty too.  Because the Dems supposedly did it more makes it OK for Trump to do it too?  Sounds like Jo Jorgensen is really the rightful President

It wasn’t on the news this morning, and evidently the MSM isn’t covering it.
If anyone sees it being covered, could they please post a link? I’m curious how they’re going to spin it, if they even cover it at all.

Why would they cover it? It’s a nothing burger, and the info released is only what Elon wanted to release. Funny how the “reporter“ Taibbi admits they blocked accounts per the requests of Trump White House, but then didn’t show those emails... only showed emails from the Biden campaign  Right there tells you how biased this whole “exposé” is.

Which brings up another point. If the idea is that a government official asking for an account to be banned is censorship, then didn’t Twitter illegally censor people when Trump sent requests? He WAS the sitting president at the time. Biden was just a candidate.

As long as we have people like you that think we need Twitter to have free speech, we've lost.

Corporations are influenced by politics, and politicians are influenced by corporations.  This shouldnt be news to you are anyone.

In this case you're salty because the Democrats did a better job of influencing Twitter than the Republicans.  You're being a baby because your side sucks.  You guys have had foxnews for years, your enemy has had CNN.

I can understand Twitter not wanting this story spread right before the election, as they received criticism in 2016 for the Hillary email server and all the Russian bots of Twitter.

And in the end the laptop turned out to be a nothing burger anyway.

The truth is the story was out there and was freely shared via email, text, word of mouth, 4chan, etc.

There was no violation of freedom of speech, bunch of focking babies.

You don't like Twitter, go use truth social.

Of course, you'll never care.  You thought the notion that Twitter was censoring information ludicrous a few months ago.  The fact your opinion now is "who cares" makes that clear.

But the reason I care is people are stupid and most people get information from limited sources of social media.  When government starts controlling what information gets flown out to these stupid and easily influenced people, they can control them.

You won't believe any of this though.

I never said Twitter was not censoring information, of course Twitter censors information.

And yes, people are stupid, and people who get their news from truth social or Facebook or the blaze only get on side of the story.

I believe Twitter does a good job at trying to stop misinformation, and this hunter Biden story proved out to be nothing, so in hindsight, if Twitter allowed this story to multiply on their platform, then stupid people would think hunter Biden is a child predator.  Actually they believe that anyway, because that's what their told elsewhere.

You're just being a baby and pushing for your team.

Why do you keep mentioning truth social?  No one uses truth social.  That's kind of the point.  A large portion of people get their news from Twitter and Facebook, so we should stop manipulating them.

Although truth social would be just as bad if people actually used it, of course.

I guess the best thing would be if journalist did their job, but that'll never happen.

Whatever.  We'll never demand better when the discussion is dominated by people like you, so we'll never receive better.  I guess we deserve it.

And, of course, when the red team is doing this (I'm sure they're trying), it's just as bad.  And I'm quite sure craftsman would be in here saying the same thing shooter is.

Social media is so fūcking horrible.

I mention truth social because it was started by trump after he got kicked off Twitter.  It was supposed to be the answer to Twitter censoring free speech.  And guess what, no one uses it!  But it's there, with all the hunter Biden talk for anyone to see.

I get it, you want to be able to say or share whatever you want on Twitter, but you're too naive to understand that if this were to happen, it would likely turn into a cesspool.  People are ass holes.

The hunter Biden story was written by a journalist, not Twitter.  Twitter does not have an obligation for fair and honest reporting.  They are a platform and they do have an obligation to regulate what is shared.  I'm sorry you don't like that, but you can't always get your way in life.

The red team did it, but you're not crying about that.

Social media definitely has it's problems.  Humans have their problems.

I really don't know what you want to happen to corporations.  If you don't want them to make their own decisions, do you want the government to regulate them?

Yup, government officials and candidates intervening with Twitter to silence a story they knew was true. This is as cut and dry as it gets, there is no side here. Every single American should be outraged.

It will be very telling who shows up in this thread making excuses. A few have already done that but, they were a given.

Regulating content has nothing to do with suppressing free speech.  I don't think you're capable of understanding this.

I guess I'm incapable because it seems quite simple to me.  If the government regulates content they are by definition restricting speech.  The only question in my mind is if they have some justifiable reason for it. :dunno:

If the government sends a takedown request to Facebook or Twitter or another website, and it’s up to the company to accept or deny the request… is it censorship the times they accept the request? To me, I’d only consider it censorship if the platform was forced to grant the request.

Bud, you're really struggling here. Let's just start by allowing a true story to be covered. Not censured and labeled misinformation because a candidate's campaign demanded it solely based on political reasons. Especially one they knew was true.

I'm blown away by these responses. That's on me though, you folks have shown what you are time and time again. It's time we accept it and move on, there is nothing you folks won't support as long as it comes from the correct political side. It's disturbing to say the least.

Nope. James Comer: Every single Twitter employee and former Twitter employee having anything to do with this will be called to testify in front of the House Committee.

So I just re-read Taibbi’s thread.

Yes, there is evidence that government officials (on both sides) reported content that they wanted twitter to moderate.  I have not seen evidence that that content should have actually been allowed.

Interestingly, unless I missed it, the thread does not share evidence that the NY Post article was one of those pieces of content.    The leaked emails all appear to be among internal twitter employees.   The “concerned” Dem does email about it, but that was AFTER people starting getting riled up about the warnings for sharing the link.   It appears twitter made that decision on their own, and thus as Elon himself says, would not violate the first amendment.

Happy to have some “spirited, intelligent discussion” about this point.

As far as the both sides garbage, Twitter has a policy where you can request a tweet taken down that’s not true if you appeal. No problem. The issue here is Twitter was taking down things that were true, like the laptop. That narrative is bullshit.

Link?  I didn’t see that in the thread.  I see the government sent a bunch of links to tweets that we don’t know what they said.  At least one of them was Hunter d1ck pics.  Then, I see a separate angle about twitter deciding on their own to censor the NY post article which they weren’t sure was true or not.

They were questioning whether it was justified by their policies.  But I don’t see that the government interfered with that one.  In fact it appears to be just the opposite as twitter was getting backlash from politicians for doing it
