Why are people acting like Twitter is the source for all news in this country?  It's not even a reliable source of news FFS.

Like if it's not on Twitter no one sees it.  Hell it's more likely that if it is on Twitter it's not true.  Look at all of Trump's lying tweets.

A dumb take by somebody who simply doesn't understand what Twitter is. All the major media outlets use it, it's an easy place for folks to get news from multiple sources. A lot of people use it, while never posting, for that very reason.

But IN GENERAL what's worse.  An actual news organization buying and burying stories that never see the light of day...or a social media company suppressing stories that anyone can find on 10+ other outlets.  I'm not suggesting that what Twitter did was correct, although they are a private company, but to me it's leaps and bound less bad than what Murdoch did.

Oh, and if Twitter under Elon suppresses bad stories against Trump or Rs in the future I'll maintain my stance as long as other news outlets have access to the stories.

If Verizon decided to filter your content, then there is nothing you can do about it, besides switch content providers if available.  This would be a serious problem.

If Twitter is filtering your content, then you just go to another app to find what you want.  If you go to Twitter to read Foxnews content and you are missing stories because twitter blocked them (which there is no evidence this happened), then you go to FoxNews to find it.

You people act like twitter is the gateway of all information.  It absolutely is not.  Anyone claiming so doesn't understand tech or the internet.

Because if a large portion of the population uses Twitter as their only source of news, it becomes the de facto source for all news.  How is this not obvious?

Let me add that you will likely not be able to prove that the FBI is working at the Preseidents whim....but you do not need to do so to know it. Always look at outcomes, and then trace backward, even the politicians cannot dilute this.
