There's truth in this. I haven't had time to figure out why their movies are all bombing. I just notice they do.

If I did have time to spend on focking Disney, I'd be more inclined to spend it on sites laughing at them for bombing rather than Disney-approved sites making excuses for why their movies never make any money. I probably know why, a continuation of trends, parents realizing how much the company has changed since they were kids, but my info is old.

Anyway, this thread is about as much effort as I can put in.

Keep failing, Disney.

So you admit to being ignorant about Disney, while still reaffirming your ignorance by incorrectly stating that Disney movies all bomb and Disney is failing

Holy smokes you cultist are so dumb.  No wonder gals avoid you like the plague.

I'll have to see this either way, the childhood feels of the intro music alone is enough for me. I hope they don't fock it up too bad. The last one was a travesty.

Of course, they were never going to be able to recapture the gloriousness of The Last Crusade, just an all-time for me.

Which is exactly why we get this crap.

You're 1/3 right. I am pretty ignorant on Disney lately. Got that right.

I do stand by the movies all bombing lately, the Little Mermaid may possibly get a toe into the black, maybe others. Underwhelming results at best.

Then you just make up sh*t. I would never implied that Disney is failing. Disn'ey's got a few bazillion $$$ worth of assets and includes multiple revenue streams other than movies. It'd take a lot more stupid, for many more years, across many more platforms, to get Disney to actually fail. Something I don't expect to happen in my lifetime.

Really?  You stand by the movies all bombing lately?

2023 Domestic box office: 4 of the top 6, Disney https://www.boxofficemojo.com/year/2023/

2023 Intl box office: 3 of top 6, Disney https://www.boxofficemojo.com/year/world/

2022 Domestic box office: 3 of top 5, Disney https://www.boxofficemojo.com/year/2022/

2022 Intl box office: 3 of top 6, Disney https://www.boxofficemojo.com/year/world/2022/

So now that I've given you the facts that the top grosser has been Disney, are you still gonna say that all the movies bomb?

Disney recently parted ways with their Chief Diversity Officer, Latondra Newton, after having worked for the studio for six years. Earlier this week, Newton announced that she mutually agreed with the company to step down from her position and people were quick to point out that she must have been fired due to the complete failures of movies like ‘The Little Mermaid’, ‘Elemental’, and ‘Lightyear.

"That figure might be good for exhibition and popcorn sales over the five-day holiday weekend, but it stinks for a movie that has a reported cost of $250M to near $300M before P&A"

Everyone ignore that, though, since movie companies get all 100% of the worldwide box office dollars.  Plus all these "licensing" deals will more than cover the budget!!

I'm waiting to hear what folks say about it.

My god that last one was an absolute cinematic abortion of epic levels.  Surviving a nuclear blast by hiding in a fridge and Shia Lebouf swinging on vines with sh1tty CGI monkeys are two images I wish I could eradicate from my brain.

Again- please find where I said:

1.) A movie company keeps 100% of the money.

2.) Also, explain why you don't think licensing deals bring in money for a company. Perhaps you can get someone to read an article to you.

I don't know why.  Disney just pocketed all 100% of the $527 million the Little mermaid has earned so far!!!

And I have it on good word that they're going to make yet another 250-300 million in profit from this one movie alone!

It's all good everyone!  Worst box office in over 2 decades and grosses down 70% but that doesn't mean a thing!   Using the new Mooney Math accounting strategy, every film made by Disney is now a box office success, generating hundreds of millions of dollars in profit!

https://boundingintocomics.com/2023/07/10/the-walt-disney-companys-2022-domestic-box-office-grosses-the-worst-in-over-two-decades/

Some highlights of Mooney Math:

  • Movie companies get all 100% of box office receipts
  • "Licensing" and "Marketing" deals cover all budgets costs
    • Even if no licensing or marketing deals were actually made
  • There is no such thing as a "loss" anymore.  Everything is a "win" and a massive profit.
  • Movies don't deliver what customers want anymore.  It's all based on what DEI wants.
    • And in this new accounting, the books will be "updated" to show that DEI ALWAYS delivers massive amounts of $$$$ PROFIT $$$$.
  • Agenda over Math! is the new motto!

Did I miss anything, @Sean Mooney ?

You simpleton- I never said Disney pockets all the money. Please find where I said that or get lost.

Also, I never said they cover "all budget costs" But they are used to help offset some of the marketing costs. If you were as smart as you like to think you are you would know this. However, you just are a dolt who barely has two brain cells to rub together.

Furthermore, I said Little Mermaid would do like 550-600 million at the box office. It's at 543 right now. That must suck for you.

As to your specific article- gee I wonder if there was anything between 2019 and 2022 that could've affected the movie business greatly. Both ticket sales, grosses....I know your head is firmly up your azz but this isn't that hard. Try

This article is crap.  I actually followed the link in the article https://www.the-numbers.com/market/distributor/Walt-Disney

First, it's actually 68%, not 70%, still it's close enough, whatever.  And of course covid.  The box office as a whole saw a 37% drop.

It's inflation adjusted numbers, which is fine.  I checked the inflation numbers using https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/ and saw that they were off in 2011, it was within 1%, and again in 2008 and 2005.  And the 2022 numbers were with 9 total movies, the lowest of any year that they have data for.

Also Disney is leading all studios in 2023 https://deadline.com/2023/07/disney-2023-box-office-summer-marvel-indiana-jones-1235431049/

ESC undoubtedly trolls for bad disney box office news and posts anything he can find.

I don't know if you're just a f****** moron, or if you actually believe the s*** you type?  You busted out your calculator and came out with the numbers yourself?   Mooney Math strikes again!

You literally just said because Disney's is leading the box office this year that they're not losing money.

Do you actually read what you type?  Seriously, It's almost as if you disregard facts and logic to push a narrative.

I don't think you know what the word "literally" means.

Also, still waiting for you to produce where I said Disney takes 100% of the money.

Or that licensing deals offset everything.

Mattel Executive #2: "It will cost some money but I think we can make it happen."

Eternal Shiny Idiot: "You don't need permission. Just make them."

Mattel Executive#3: "Who let that moron in off the tour?"

When a jackass says Disney is getting killed at the box office, naturally I'm going to look into it, and then share the refuting material.

And no, Disney is not losing money.  It's hilarious that you keep repeating that BS, and then say I don't know what profit is and make fun of my education.  You're a complete joke.

Do you think something major happened between 2019 and 2022 that may have affected the global box office.

Here's a hint to something:

NUmbers here are from Statisa as to North American box office tickets:

2019 there were 1.228 billion

2022 there were 813 million

So 415 million tickets less sold. Gee- what could be different?

(PS I did the math for you and Eternally Dopey since you guys struggle with that)

Dude might be more obsessed with glory holes than LC is with trannies.  This was his shtick on the other site too- mostly cheerleading for the people doing the work and adding his 2-3 stock lines.  Here it's glory holes and the ever so witty "racist say what" stuff.
