naomi 356 Posted May 26, 2022 I understand all the criticism of bystanders seemingly being cowards. And then there's the reaction that apparently a lot of people have - "if I injure (or worse) the perp, I'll be on the hook criminally." But, being familiar with a city that has a lot of deranged people milling around, I actually truly believe there is something to this:
naomi 356 Posted May 26, 2022 I've had a couple times (in downtown Sac) being at the head of a light that's green - but crazy person is doing various crazy stuff in the intersection- and one time the guy started yelling at me directly. I looked at him straight on but quickly a few times, to have full understanding of his rage level. It was enough to cause me to take stock of the best improvised weapons within my reach. But I actually basically decided if he started coming, I would just drive forward and let the chips fall. I was starting to feel the flight urge. The moment I made that decision, he seemed to back off.
Utilit99 4,099 Posted May 26, 2022 I'm not part of my company's New York City office, but I'm still receive the general emails, and my company has been pushing and hosting, for those that are there, self defense classes that they bring in police to teach for a while now. Constant warnings about the violence in the city and encouraging travel into the office with others to have numbers while walking or riding the subway. I stay the fock away from that shlthole. Years ago I lived in some nasty places always having to keep an eye out for danger, I don't want to deal with that crap anymore. People like that in the video need to be seen as a cancer and should be cut out of society. Dude was probably put in prison and let go 30 times in his life. listen2me 23 1,831 Posted May 26, 2022 Well NYC Mayor Eric Adams prefers to spend tax dollars on 24 hour City run drug use sites where users can use illegal drugs freely with supervision so that they don't overdose. Instead of focusing on drug and mental illness treatment.... #NYCisNotSafe In the comments. Spot on. Druggies and criminals are actually victims, you know. It’s only shocking to suburbanites who have never come into contact with the mentally ill or homeless and are reflexively scared of the blacks.

I think everyone has SEEN a homeless person or druggy on the street or mass transit before. Yeah but did you watch the video? He/She grabbed that woman’s head and hair and holding her down. She as crying, you could see the fear in her eyes and people just stood there. I’m willing to bet even in the 90’s a New Yorker man would have intervened there.
