Fascinating comment (public transport violence)

Recommended Posts

I understand all the criticism of bystanders seemingly being cowards.

And then there's the reaction that apparently a lot of people have - "if I injure (or worse) the perp, I'll be on the hook criminally."

But, being familiar with a city that has a lot of deranged people milling around, I actually truly believe there is something to this:

I've had a couple times (in downtown Sac) being at the head of a light that's green - but crazy person is doing various crazy stuff in the intersection- and one time the guy started yelling at me directly. I looked at him straight on but quickly a few times, to have full understanding of his rage level. It was enough to cause me to take stock of the best improvised weapons within my reach. But I actually basically decided if he started coming, I would just drive forward and let the chips fall. I was starting to feel the flight urge. The moment I made that decision, he seemed to back off.

I'm not part of my company's New York City office, but I'm still receive the general emails, and my company has been pushing and hosting, for those that are there, self defense classes that they bring in police to teach for a while now. Constant warnings about the violence in the city and encouraging travel into the office with others to have numbers while walking or riding the subway. I stay the fock away from that shlthole. Years ago I lived in some nasty places always having to keep an eye out for danger, I don't want to deal with that crap anymore.

People like that in the video need to be seen as a cancer and should be cut out of society. Dude was probably put in prison and let go 30 times in his life.

I know the crime is astronomically low compared to other states, seems to be a theme in that area. I just can't quite put my finger on why.

Vermont doesn’t have any public transportation. No trains or buses?

Train full of libs.  People hate gun laws, but how is that woman going to protect herself next time when she is alone?  And worms call the right misogynists, while the left won't even acknowledge what a woman is. :dunno:

It’s among the least populous states in the country? 🤔

I come into the office 2 days a week. Commuter rail is running buses for the next few weeks. I decided to take the subway

I get on and sit down. Immediately this skinny black dude that was out of his mind started to try and get my attention. I had just put my bluetooth headphones in.

He even touched my arm. But I held my ground and didnt even look up. He moved on to other people

they have buses, but they go from "city" to "city". The towns themselves are too small. and they have Amtrak, but nothing like a subway.

Could have used some toxic masculinity on that rail.  Amirite?

That would be worse and lead to white supremacy.

Well NYC Mayor Eric Adams prefers to spend tax dollars on 24 hour City run drug use sites where users can use illegal drugs freely with supervision so that they don't overdose. Instead of focusing on drug and mental illness treatment.... #NYCisNotSafe

In the comments.  Spot on.   Druggies and criminals are actually victims,  you know.  Small women of color just trying to get home from work don't matter.  But these cities will grandstand for women and POC.  And some how fool them.

Wasn't there a city a while ago who eased checking in on fare evaders because it was deemed "racist"?

Well, property is racist so....:dunno:

Boston University professor says property is racist, excuses Black Lives Matter riots after George Floyd death

A Boston University assistant professor said that property is racist and excused the riots that followed the death of George Floyd, according to a video posted by the school on Twitter Wednesday.

Anyone who rides mass transit in a major city has had this experience. It’s only shocking to suburbanites who have never come into contact with the mentally ill or homeless and are reflexively scared of the blacks.

Like the guy on the NYC subway who was shot for no reason a few days ago. He’s dead.

Yeah but it happens a lot more in Philadelphia vs Indianapolis or Des Moines vs St Louis. Why?

For starters, the population of those 3 cities combined is smaller than Philadelphia and only one of them has a subway.

Stay in the burbs my friend. You’d be the girl getting her hair pulled if you lived in a big city.

I think everyone has SEEN a homeless person or druggy on the street or mass transit before. Yeah but did you watch the video?   He/She grabbed that woman’s head and hair and holding her down. She as crying, you could see the fear in her eyes and people just stood there.  I’m willing to bet even in the 90’s a New Yorker man would have intervened there.

Indianapolis is the 14th most populous major city in the US we aren't comparing apples to oranges here. I also noticed you didn't mention St Louis/Des Moines.

I'll never leave the burbs.

Again I’m not intervening in shiit. Does that suck for that girl? Absolutely. But I’m not risking my life for hers when I’ve got people I’m responsible for at home they expect me to get home. Do you want to play hero? Go right ahead.
