Everyone in NJ had to have it done back in my day.  What's the issue?  I'm willing to bet they do now too?  In order to play high school sports, we were required to get a physical from our doctor.  At that time, we need to have a hernia check, which required me to drop my pants and cough.  My doctor saw my boys.

My son had to do the same thing when he was in high school 8 years ago.  My nephew starts high school in September.  I guess I'll find out soon if they still do this.  I'd assume if there's a question, you just go to the physical the kid had done and get the name of the physician.  Call him or her and ask.  Done!

Girls do have to get physicals too, but I don't really know if that matters.  If there's a girl who wants to play in a boys league, no one cares.  If there's a boy that wants to play in a girls league, he still has to be cleared like a boy, whether he identifies as a girl or boy, because it's medically prudent.  What doctor wants to be sued for malpractice by neglect?

Girls don't have normally have their genitals checked at physicals.

My daughter plays sports in school and needs a physical every year. We live in CA. She cannot play or be on the team until the physical is provided and signed off by her doctor. 

The form is mostly about medical history; heart/lung issues, any concussions, allergies and who to contact if there is an emergency. I honestly don't recall if there is a M/F check box. 

I do this every year for her. When the physical is obtained, the Dr. sees her alone in the room (this usually starts around 12 and they did the same for my son), and I am called in to meet with the Dr after he's had a chance to talk to her. I know that he likely asks her if she's sexually active, if she feels safe at home, how many fruits/veggies she eats, what her exercise is like, and how much screen time. He then asks me the same questions. 

At NO point, does she get nekkid in front of him, or while I am there. He does the usual exam, pressing on stomach, feeling the organs, listening to her heart/lungs. If there are weight concerns, he'd bring them up. And then make sure she's up to date on vaccines. 

ANY internal exams, she'd likely go to a gyno or a female pediatrician. 

She was born in 2006, when they check what was between the legs at birth and that's what's on her birth cert. I know of people who  are trans who've had their birth cert changed to be updated to whatever gender they transitioned to.

I do have reservations about trans females participating on female teams. Even tho some studies have shown that with certain hormone levels, there's little performance difference, I don't think that males/trans-females should be playing on female teams.  

I think of the more specific examples of the swimmer (I think) that as a male was like #500 in the nation. He transitions to female and is now #1.  If I go and kill someone as a female, and then transition to male, sorry...I didn't commit the murder, SHE did. Makes NO sense to me.

I only learned of this law today but my reservation would be requiring athletes to get a genital inspection if they’re suspected of being male. Can anyone level a complaint? You see how the GC is. 

Just figure out a fair way to confirm gender before the season, problem solved.

I'm not saying it's a huge issue.   If you get the gyno to do it, that might work, but you'd need to ensure all the girls are actually seeing one.  But people here acting like it's part of your normal school physical are wrong.

They don't need to.  The only people who need to be checked are boys.  Like I said, no is going to care if a girl wants to play on the boys teams... people only care if a boy has an unfair advantage over girls.  So, if there's a boy who claims to be a girl and wants to play a girls sport, he has to get a physical because it's medically prudent.  If a boy plays a sport and gets seriously injured because the school didn't require him "as a girl" to get a physical, they'd get sued to high heaven.

It's normal for boys and needs to be added for girls (since you say it's not part of the normal process. I'm not sure I believe you). Either way, why are you against a doctor performing an exam? Do you think it's going to hurt the girls some way?

The only way for this to happen without getting all kinds of doctors, school officials to look at what's between a kids' legs is to let the parents/kids put on the form what gender they identify as. 

I mean, that's really what it is, right? They are saying that it shouldn't matter what I was born as, what my DNA/chromosomes SAY I am, I identify as ABC and therefore will play on Team ABC with the other ABCs. If I have a genetic/DNA difference that makes me stronger and faster than those other ABCs, then oh well. 

What difference would an actual physical make? Nothing, IMO. Because it's NOT about what's under the clothes, it's what they identify as and what they feel "most comfortable" playing.

This is the argument that liberals will make.  I mean, it's fine from a theoretical sense, but in practice... it's completely invalid.  Boys have a clear physical advantage over girls.  They shouldn't be allowed to take achievements away from girls because they have that advantage.
