Was it you I was arguing with this year about Mayfield? He just needed a decent coach. Finally got one.  I know one game. He had only 2 days practice for christ sakes.

McVay is the first head coach in the NFL Baker has had he truly has to respect.  super bowl ring, offensive mind, etc.  Might make a difference for sure.

some of you are funny tho.  98 yards, no timeouts, 2 minutes to go.  that's impressive if Brady did it, let alone Baker.

skowronek and van jefferson.  that was jefferson's first game winning td catch at any level.

BTW, the 49ers did not put a waiver claim on Baker Mayfield and even if they did, Baker would not have fallen to the 49ers in the waiver process as the Rams claimed him.

Lesson learned over the past two prime time games: You can blatantly hold at the end of the game.

all I have said is the kid, like any other QB in the NFL needs a coach. Rest of the season should be interesting to watch.

the book on Baker is that if the pass rush disrupts him, he can be quite below average as a passer.  but if he gets time to throw, Baker has an elite deep ball with deadly accuracy.  we saw that on the final drive.  he had a clean pocket and was dropping the ball into the bucket repeatedly.  Baker can excel on play action and McVay loves working with play action.  McVay could certainly be a great coach for him.

Who is saying a 98 yard drive isnt impressive?   Where was he much of the rest of the game?

It is hilarious that people are chalking up "coaching" to the Rams beating the crappy Raiders. When Baker has been there for 2 days lol.   When they scored 3 pts for the first 3 quarters. Lol. What?

What about the int he threw ? He got lucky there was a penalty on the Raiders or that drive would have never started.

the int happened because his target was being blatantly held.

he just got to the team a couple days ago.  you want him to throw 500 yards and 6 tds?

Thats a bit over the top.  So something all of a sudden clicked between him and McVay on the last drive?  Lol thats my whole point.  McVay didn't coach Baker up in 2 days.  It was a fluke 4th quarter against a crap team.  Lets pump the breaks. Raiders flopped.  They play safe zone and that TD doesn't happen.

But hey this will be good.  The legend of Baker is now reignited amongst all those who hold him dear to their hearts.

On the winning play, Mayfield said he was "completely shocked" to see the Raiders line up in press coverage with 15 seconds left.

"I really thought they were going to pop out and play zone," he said. "But they just stayed with it, and I saw the weakside safety stay down, and Van's a great go-ball runner, go up and get it, and he won off the line and did a good job."

no-one here is calling him a great qb.  why do you need to say "lets pump the breaks?" especially when the term is brakes.

My mechanical system says the top 3 defenses are the 49ers, Bills and Cowboys in that order.  None of them, however qualify as a super elite defense.  The 49ers are on the cusp and have a chance to reach it if they hold the Seahawks to a field goal or less next week.  The Bills might reach it if they shut out the Dolphins next week.  The Cowboys won't reach it even if they shut out the Jaguars next week.

Is Brock Purdy a franchise QB?  Maybe if he can continue to play at the level he showed against the Buccaneers. Maybe Purdy is a lucky once in a generational find.

With the way the rules are in the NFL, I don't see how you can have an elite defense.

That roughing the passer call against the Dolphins last night, made me want to not even watch the NFL anymore. Focking horrible.

That was horrible and glad Chris Collinsworth was very vocal about it.

I had fun watching the Eagles smash the Giants yesterday. Boston Scott scoring on NYG was the cherry on top.

All that fun and yet you still found the time to come here and whine in the middle of the game about politics. Must have been a blast.

All things considered, I personally think that this is up there with QB Clint Longley on Thanksgiving Day against the Redskins and QB Frank Reich's historic comeback.

Bills have been struggling to catch the ball.  And getting anything easy.  Gabe is a downfield guy but he hasn't played up to where most thought he would be.this year.  McKenzie looked to take over that slot role, but has been very disappointing.   More gadget.   Crowder broke his ankle weeks back.

Allen supposedly asked the Bills for both Smoke Brown and Beas to return to the team.  They obliged.

The Carolina Panthers started the season 2-7.  They have won 3 of 4 to put them at 5-8 and now control their own destiny.  If they win out, they win the NFC South.  Their last 4 games are home vs the Steelers, home vs the Lions, on the road at the Buccaneers, and on the road at the Saints.

Their reward for going on that run will be a one and done playoff trip followed by another season of Sam Darnold at QB.

As it stands right now, I can’t envision a scenario where the SB participants aren’t from the following groups: NFC- Philly, SF, and Dallas, in that order.  AFC- KC, Buffalo, even. The rest of the field is really, really weak to me. Anyone think that someone else could sneak in  there?
