Worst case the Rs have a 2 or 3 seat majority which means they can't stonewall everything. Just a perfect perfect situation for Ds. And again, a clear repudiation of Trump and the cultural war Rs are waging right now. Time to re-think your priorities Rs if you want to remain a viable party. The country is getting less old, less white, and less religious. All of these trends are horrible for Rs. You’re overstating it there at the end. If the Republicans had better candidates and they weren’t tied to crazy ass leadership from a deeply flawed standard-bearer, they would’ve taken the senate and a much bigger majority in the house, and we’d all be sitting here talking about how the democrats were doomed—DOOMED@#!!— for generations to come. To me this election stood for two things, with the first being by far the biggest issue: 1. Republicans, you can’t just trot out completely idiotic MAGAtards that deny election results and espouse insane conspiracy theories and expect you are going to win a lot of elections. And thank god for that! 2. Biden is better than conventional wisdom understands. The approval rating is not great historically but in this angry and hyper-polarized world, 43% might just mean you’re killing it

This is almost exactly what happened with the Tea Party a decade ago. They took hold a little bit with their thoughts and then in that 2010 election year the Republicans ran a bunch of terrible candidates who were pretty roundly rejected by voters at the polls. They seem to have not learned their lesson from that- at least in 2022. You can't just run crazy people. And in places like - PA Governor....they ran a straight up crazy person. Probably also uglier and worse personalities. Probably tend to hate men more, and themselves more. Much fewer children. Much more susceptible to social and social media pressures. Some combination of all of this, along with being unmarried, makes unmarried women remarkably Democratic.

I must have seen 10 Oz/Fetterman ads a day for months before the election. I don’t think I saw a single Mastriano or Shapiro ad. Once he won the nomination, the GOP just abandoned that governor’s seat and I’m sure it was over abortion. I wouldn’t be surprised if he hurt Oz enough to lose that race too.
