The Real timschochet 6,529 Posted April 4, 2023 60% of Americans approve of this indictment: https://www.cnn.com/2023/04/03/politics/cnn-poll-trump-indictment/index.html They shouldn’t. Like the rest of us they don’t know anything- in fact I would venture to guess that most of those polls know far less than anyone reading this post- because most of you, like myself, are at least politically interested. The takeaway from this poll, for me, is that around 60% of the public doesn’t like Trump. If that number is firm he has NO chance of winning an election, even against an unpopular Biden. Yet at the same time this indictment appears to be firming up Trump’s already strong support among the Republican base. Which means he will likely be the GOP nominee, and he’ll likely be crushed. This story is along the lines of what I was getting at earlier. More people in today's world, including jurors, have preconceived notions about all political figures, including their guilt or innocence. I do agree it's unlikely Trump could ever win the general election today. I would like to see DeSantis but for the time being this is helping Trump tremendously in the primary. That's short term, we will see long term.

But if he’s indicted 2, maybe 3 more times for much more serious crimes? (Georgia, the files, Jan 6). It could change conservative opinion. Personally every conservative I talk to, 100% of them, would prefer DeSantis. I hear it over and over and over. They like Trump, they think Trump is getting the shaft, but he’s too old and got too much baggage. They want the new. But it’s not being reflected in Republican polling. Engorgeous George 2,171 Posted April 4, 2023 Dawn is lighting up the canyons of New York City. Here in the Rockies it is dark and snowing currently. I imagine the former President to be wide awake so he can have a big breakfast and then get a fresh coat of orange before having his hair whipped up and his suit pulled over his girth and his depends undergarment. I wonder, will his wife make a 'stand by her man" appearance? Will he make a bad situation worse by making it all about him, as is his wont? Will his legal team lose a member today when they all realize he will not heed their advice and instead will ill-advisedly shoot off his mouth? It should be a fascinating day. Particularly as the Rorschach Test which is Trump is viewed from the outskirts of our political media.

It will not matter who the Republicans put up for candidacy, the Democrats will leverage their allies in media and the DOJ to go after that person. Sadly. Way too early, Trump is somehow still a viable candidate for many (super disappointing), and that someone else will come out of Republican nom process and take Don out. The longer this takes though the better for Don though. Ron nationally has been pretty shaky. He comes across like a bit of an odd dude. But again super early.
