Here comes the debt ceiling crisis: June 1

Recommended Posts

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) estimates 44% of the workforce in developed nations will see their positions replaced or overhauled by automation. Even a fraction of that would amount to a significant disruption of our culture and economy. Let em all in Tim!

That’s a world wide problem nobody has an answer for. You think we can solve it by slamming our doors shut? That’s crazy.

no one thinks you care about this issue.  you just want to attack people not on the left.

never give the debt ceiling crisis oxygen.  all the MSM is gonna do is blame it on "the far right" and then give credit to resolving it to Biden and the far left.  they do it every time. they ony thing ou can do is stop talking about it and delete the thread.

Biden is caught between the donor class and the far left of his party.  Good luck making them both happy.  Lol.  Wall Street vs the Squad.

If and when it comes to that we’re going to have to reassess everything, every aspect of our lives, including immigration.

But that time is not now. Right now, we’ve got plenty of room.

You sound like a socialist.

In a capitalist society, Wall Street represents the middle classes. This is especially true in our society when 401ks represent such a large portion of investments. Socialists like Bernie Sanders (and apparently you) believe there is a conflict between Wall Street’s interests and those of the working class. Liberals and traditional conservatives know there isn’t.

Just the opposite. The Republican “solution” to this issue is to build a wall, seal off our border and keep everybody out. How does this solve anything? You think that will protect us from automation or the outside world? It’s the equivalent of the ostrich who sticks his head in the sand.

The defining characteristics of government spending are fraud, waste and dishonesty.  And people think giving it more money is a good thing.

You love to make blanket statements like this with no basis in reality

So waste fraud and dishonesty aren’t apt descriptions?

There is always fraud, dishonesty, and corruption when it comes to government spending. But they are NOT “defining characteristics”. That’s absurd. Your position is absurd.

I assume you receive a pension for your time as a police officer? Is that part of the fraud and dishonesty? Should we cut you off?

But my paycheck will still have FICA taken out, deal or no deal.  So why won’t checks get cut? Also, too many Fockin losers on bullshit SS disability.  It’s out of control. I could go down to any bar in America in the middle of the day and they’ll be worthless bums sitting on their ass drinking and collecting disability.

How is this related to immigration? Take a look at those guys. Most are white and vote Republican. Former members of the armed services are disproportionately collecting these payments. They don't deserve them?

If you kept everyone out how does that solve any of the problems that come with the illegals.

Yep, that's the type of braindead thinking we're working with here folks.

I said too many. Not all. You spend half your time around here having to point simple shitt out to libtards. Pay attention to what’s said, not what you want to be said.  Thanks.

Well, they try.  Look at Gutterboy. He’s so dumb he can’t have a conversation without making things up to bolster his take.

McCarthy has Biden cornered. Don’t let him out. Make cuts or “default”. Pretty simple.

Looks like the democrats are going to have to decide what gets cut.  Don’t worry though , the donors will be fine.

Now the real fun begins. Who will have more trouble with this, McCarthy with the Freedom Caucus? Or Biden with the lefties?

We shall see how the alt-right dolts continue to be dooshy to sabotage our country's well-being in the name of their fascist agenda.

They’re already going nuts. They think McCarthy totally caved. Trump in particular is going to be pissed.

They shouldn't have weaponized the debt-ceiling crisis in the first place. But that's what they do. MAGAturds are terrible.

Looks like both sides gave a bit. Wasn’t really worried ever but glad to have it done (well almost). Nice bump on Friday in stock market seemed to telegraph it being done.

Nothing in the deal seems like it will actually reduce the debt. Actually increases military spending? Cuts funds from the IRS, so fewer audits = less money coming in.

GOP just had a few things they wanted, so they pretended to care about govt spending. Their deal didn’t do anything about it. What a joke. We need to repeal the debt limit entirely so they stop playing these stupid games.

Republicans really did a bang up job here. The only winners are Biden, McCarthy and the uni-party who can ignore this issue for the next 2 years. The rest of us lose. They are all corrupted.

US national debt, 2023: $31.4 trillion

Are our roads better? Are our streets safer?
How about healthcare? Is it easier to raise a family? Did we improve our schools?

Some of the issues you raised were addressed by Biden’s infrastructure bill, which most Republicans opposed. Did you support it?

All of the issues you raised are legitimate. But they all require more spending, not less. You’ve been very critical of Democratic policies and that’s fine, in many ways you’re justified. But I don’t see any of the politicians you appear to support dealing with any of these issues.

If somebody really wants better roads and safer streets? Repeal the Trump tax cuts. Use all the extra money to fix roads, help the police, and give food and housing to the homeless. Worried about schools? Same thing. As for healthcare, do you really think a system run by for-profit insurance companies benefits public health? Their top priority is to the shareholders, not their clients/patients. Take profit out of the equation. Have a single-payer govt system and everything will cost less because our premiums won’t be spent on yachts for wealthy executives.

Everybody complains about taxes, but they don’t seem to realize that if we taxed the rich at the same percentage rate we tax the middle class? We could easily pay back the national debt in a couple years. I don’t understand why so many right-wing voters, who reasonably ask for lower taxes, then applaud bills that give a minuscule reduction to the middle class and massive breaks to the wealthy. Wake up.

That’s what you all said about the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act. Most of the funds went to cronies and it didn’t do but make a bunch of people rich off the taxpayers.

Unlike you, I support no politicians they never fix anything.

32 Trillion in debt, 10s of trillions more in spending and you cheerlead the destruction of the working/middle class. Screw.
