How Do You Make A Grill Cheese Sammich

Recommended Posts

Thinking of doing this for lunch.

Rye bread

 Mac&Cheese

A slice of provolone and a slice of ham

A small amount of hot garlic mustard

And lots butter

Served with potato soup

Sound good?

I use mayo instead of butter. Makes for a nicer golden brown outer side of bread.

First off...need a good bread

2nd need good cheeses...gruyere...and maybe some decent havarti or other.

Secret is to toast both sides of bread!!

Toast one side...flip then add cheese...

You are welcome

Sounds good but if there’s meat on it that’s a melt, not a grilled cheese.

To heavy for lunch. I do to much to eat like that for lunch.   10:30 today in Lake Tahoe we had a small place crash into the Lake, everyone seems okay, boaters came to the rescue, stuff like that makes eating a lunch like that dangerous.

You guys are making this too difficult.  Grill cheese is for when you are too broke and lazy to make something nicer.

Wonder bread, butter, and Kraft American Cheese singles.  That's it.

  We switched to mayo for grilled cheese sammiches about 20 years ago. You'll never go back to butter.

I also prefer a very simple grilled cheese, same as you. I add cut up cherry tomatoes from my garden to go in the Rao's tomato soup, that is where i make it a little fancy.

Mayo is a terrible idea, butter is better on a few sandwiches and this is one of them.

I haven’t made this in over 20 years. I prefer to melt extra sharp cheddar cheese on top of sliced sour dough bread in the broiler.
