Threads - Twitter Killer

Recommended Posts

Anyone try this?  I signed up, thought it sucked, closed the app.

But it seems like it's catching on, 100 million people signed up, and dumb Elon is already acting out.

people are saying threads is DOA:

1. it only has 100mm users because facebook makes it super easy to sign up by the click of a button to its users.  but that doesnt guarantee people will stay.

2. threads is a dumb name because its not unique such that if you google it, its not guaranteed to pop up at the top of the search.

3. twitter allows pron and threads does not. tumblr literally died the second it banned pron.

4. threads isnt available in the EU due to privacy concerns.

5. twitter shares a portion of its ad revenue and threads does not. that makes twtter a revenue stream and threads is just a microblog site.

Honest question:  don't do much of any social media.  Well none other twitter for sports news/advice/insight.

Why are people upset at twitter?

Googled "Threads"...literally the first three results were ways to sign up for Threads either through the actual site, through Instagram, or through Facebook.

Either way- I plan to use it as much as I do Twitter....which is to say- not at all

it might be now because its new, but the word is VERY easy to knock off the top search results compared to twitter.

its liberals who used to view twitter as a liberal echo chamber built for them until Elon Musk bought it.  They view Musk as not on the left so they think hes a nazi and want their own safe space again.  Yahoo! Sports used to include a twitter feed link for every game but once Musk bought twitter, they removed the link LOL.  The problem is that it is very hard to unseat an established product as people usually have the wrong opinions as to why a platform succeeds (and threads is already screwing up).  If threads fails, I imagine liberals might try to just claim that twitter "spreads hate" and coerce its web host to seize the domain name or something.

well you stated that you don't do social media, asked why people are upset with twitter, receive no responses, and within the hour conclude that it's liberals boycotting and compare it to Bud Light.

This is another example of why you're a joke.

I surf twitter for updates.  Like I stated.

I recieved a response from justin.  I just forgot to quote him.  Did you miss it?

You are an angry fella who sits here spasticaly ready to argue with anyone who will give you the time.

You made a beer thread and were so antsy to randomly bring up bud light.  Bier was like wtf?   You are the joke.

You also forgot to call me a retard.

Actually I did miss Justins post, I don't read his posts.

I just read it, and he's wrong as usual.

If you're really interested, I'll give you the real answer....

Twitter users are upset for several reasons since Musk bought it

1) Increase in misinformation and hate speech.  Musk eliminated much of the infrastructure that monitored this, thus it has flourished.

2) Elimination of accountability.  Musk removed "blue checks", which was an old way to verify that a person was who they said they were.  So previously if I created an account that said "Eli Manning", I would have to prove to Twitter that I actually was Eli Manning, then I got a blue check.  Now, anyone can get a blue check as long as they pay for it, which has led to a bunch of fake accounts.

3) Reliability.  Since they reduced the workforce, the uptime of the app has been spotty.  Refreshes take longer, tweets sometime disappear, reappear, etc

4) Limits.  This was really the final blow.  They put usage limits on how many tweets you can read per day.

So all that combined has caused people to look for alternatives.  But it's not a boycott, there is no dumping phones down drains or videos shooting up twitter signs, etc.

2) I didn't bring up bud light, I brought up AB.  Roger brought up bud light.

Sounds like the same story with this place and the Sanctuary, The Danzone, and The Closet. Grass always seems greener on the other side of the fence.

Apparently not.

I read that you also can't delete a threads account without also losing your Instagram account. May want to consider that before looking into and downloading it.

I like how libs accuse everyone else of attacking free speech and then run around calling all kinds of speech they dont like misinformation and hate speech.  if you want free speech, thats gonna be part of it.
