He is trying to run to the right of Trump and bashing LGBTQ folks and their rights is one way he is going about it.

Even if he somehow got the nomination, these ads will come back to bite him in general election (this is not something he will be able to walk back, although I am sure he will try).

Yes but, add that they fell for it while on their brake at Taco Bell. Get it? It's because they're poor and have a crappy job. I haven't stopped slapping my knee, Dave Chappelle probably wouldn't be able to comprehend the genius of it.

Interesting - yet another PAC apparently; just started 2 weeks ago? Lots of PACs are loosely affiliated with certain candidates, so maybe connections to some candidate will come to light.

As for DeSantis and anti-gay anti-Trump attack ads, the one he linked from his “war room” account was hilariously bad. It has been taken down. But he has definitely attacked Trump for not being anti-gay enough.

Where was this particular point covered ad nauseam?   I see a somewhat related post in the DeSantis thread about him attacking Trump for being pro-LGBTQ, but it seemed to be more focused on trans (which would actually make some sense), and didn't have a ton of posts discussing it.

Calling out gay marriage in particular seems like a new development, as discussed on a Breaking Points video just released today.

"Just asking questions," as I had seen that mentioned in the Breaking Points video.

Saagar is a Republican and both he and Krystal acknowledged that "we don't know for sure if Desantis was behind the ad," but they both said that it seemed on brand with recent messaging.

You asked if he is against it, I pointed out that he didn't do this vid.  And yet you keep fighting like a yip yip dog.

Saying Trump is for, say, transing the kids, is a wee bit different than saying you oppose gay marriage.  But way to lump all comments into "on brand," party of science and truth.

You know why you asked your own question, he would never do it, just take the L and move on.

Well I didn’t think he would pass a 6 week abortion ban either, but here we are.  I don’t think it’s definite that his campaign wasn’t behind these mailers

If so, so much for his “electability”

Issues with the LGBT community and their activism has essentially cost the DNC the White Evangelical voting block and likely a large cross section of suburban women voters.

Young white college educated women will still likely line up behind Biden. So will the core 79-85 percent of the LGBT community up and down the ticket. There will be single issues voters for things like gun control or abortion or climate change, etc, etc.

But you can't lose White Evangelicals. Also there are Pro Life Democrats in this country in large numbers. They were effectively disenfranchised for close to 50 years. When Nancy Pelosi kept uplifting Henry Cuellars in Texas with huge money for years ( the only noted Pro Life Democrat on Team Blue's entire roster), the estimates said they were about 15 million strong across the nation. Rough math in my head, I'd say it's more likely about 22 million.

No matter what David Axelrod says and does ( at the behest of Obama), Gavin Newsom won't likely do better. He cheated on his first wife with a Staffer. He cheated on his second wife with at least one Staffer as well. DeSantis stood by his wife while she had cancer. The narrative is too overwhelming. Newsom's only appeal, besides having "Aunt" Pelosi on his side and the implied money behind that, was his pull with middle aged women. Now he's a serial cheater, almost booted out as Governor of his own state no less, and he will enrage many on the hard left who will silently denounce him as "pure white privilege" for a Party apparatus that keeps screaming systemic racism. Middle America will NOT vote for Newsom. Not a chance.

The critical issue is what happens with Nikki Haley. She's the textbook archetype of what you'd want in VPOTUS candidate at this point. This is why so many of Trump's former big name donors jumped ship and went to Haley. Her chances to win POTUS are slim to none. But her chances to be VPOTUS are the best of the entire field. Trump ran out of money at the end of both his 2016 and 2020 campaigns. And he lost his key strategists in Kellyanne Conway and Steve Bannon plus Mark Burnett to boot. Trump will have less money and less talent who will know how to spend the money he has left. While some people rightfully have a lot to despise about Bannon, he is an excellent campaign strategist. You can be corrupt and a scumbag and still be good at one specific thing.

The "carrot" that Trump can dangle is VPOTUS. Once he picks one, and has to pick a running mate eventually or leak out the candidate, the others not selected have more incentive to line up behind De Santis instead.

This is the correct move by DeSantis. He's saying Trump gave Pro Life a huge win, but he's not actually Pro Life himself. And that there is a difference. It gives Mike Pence ( who is only running for the money) an easy narrative to pull out eventually and endorse DeSantis ( in trade for something else, just not VPOTUS)

Trump is poll testing well RIGHT NOW. But polling has been busted badly the last three full general election cycles. Certainly DeSantis needs help here. He needs the DNC to have miscalculated. Team Blue and Obama wanted to bleed out Trump, but not stop him from running. But the legal case is so brutal right now, that it might give DeSantis the sliver of window he needs to push through and win the primary.

DeSantis is not against gay marriage. Not openly. He just wants to appeal to the massive number of White Evangelicals out there. Team Blue is no longer seen as "Pro Choice" by White Evangelicals and the Catholic core voters, it's now being clear that the new normal is "Pro Abortion"

This is the correct political strategy given the time and place.

I like Breaking Points in general, but they have to ride a very generalized take to keep their subscriber base intact. They are almost completely dependent on their subscribers to survive financially. It's not compelling to get into the guts of how voting blocks operate and how their allegiances can shift. Also Saagar Enjeti is restricted from covering certain topics as places like YouTube will outright demonetize anything that is seen as too "conservative" in nature. If Enjeti points out that Newsom keeps banging his Staffers and that it's going to drive suburban women voters away, YouTube will just try to shut him down.

DeSantis can't lose votes that are already lost. He can't magically change the voting tendencies of the LGBT community. However he's willing to risk the difference between 15-21 percent of the LBGT block ( still statistically small nationwide, but relatively large in Big Blue Cities) for a roll of the dice for the massive share of White Evangelicals and suburban women voters and Pro Life Democrats.

DeSantis has a real policy record. Even if some people hate him for it. He's not just running on wedge issues. He's betting on the longevity of that and playing the long game here. It's the correct move, but it might still not pan out for him. Calling DeSantis as "anti-gay marriage" is a massive unreasonable stretch though. His focus in that area is health care, schools and sports.

Put it this way, if you hate DeSantis, then you do. However if you call him "anti-gay marriage" then the only answer can be that you are being intentionally obtuse or you are a low information voter or you are just parroting outrage porn narratives from Big Social Media. There is absolutely NOTHING on DeSantis' political and media jacket that would indicate he's openly against gay marriage. Now he might be in private. That's possible. But nothing in public shades that way.

DeSantis is trying to paint himself to the right of Orange Man on this issue.

He has a couple problems. Trump will openly lie to whatever crowd he’s playing to and it doesn’t matter so good luck trying to flank him with this type of shtick.. More importantly he appears to be a stuffed shirt and his play is to be another Trump but electable. He doesn’t seem to have that in him.

In the long term Meatball Ron will be fine. He’s struggling like a rookie in the show , say like Jordan Walker.  Meatball will be fine after he’s tuned up by the Boss

DeezNutSantis is getting tuned up by Donald. He’s losing in Florida by 20. It’s hard to watch honestly.

Same thing happened to Rubio. Florida politicians aren’t ready for the Bigly Leagues apparently.

I was the original slippery sloper, and I support gay marriage

this is my no 1 reason while I am against all banning of ANY firearm

if the gays and the leftists could have been like ok we got marriage rights, now lets be cool, then I still wouldn't be ok with an AR ban, but at least it could be a trusted compromise

A few years ago I would have disagreed with you. I still do on any firearm, but I understand your stance.
