Issue #1 was on Amendments to the  Ohio Constitution.  You don't believe the people should have a say in how their government should be run, sounds pretty authoritarian to me.

The defeat of Issue 1 on Tuesday keeps in place a simple majority threshold for passing future constitutional amendments, rather than the 60% supermajority that was proposed. 

 

Seems like a constitution should be hard to change and not just the whims of the idiot public on a random tuesday.

So what your saying is that if the people in the minority vote democrat, then putting the minority view first is all about diversity fairness and equity and equality.  But if that minority happens to vote republican then majority should rule as that is fair and just.  Got it.

Agreed.  I presumed that the amendment was to make abortion illegal, and I was going to say that I don't think that is something that should be in a constitution.

Arizona had proposed a similar 60% super majority years ago; I voted for it, but it was shot down there as well IIRC.

Use what ever rationale you want.  I support abortion....emphatically.....I am an ally.    I simply will not use some twisted logic to excuse myself from the moral crime of it. I am advocating for the murder of children, because I see it as a societal good.  I could try to let myself off the hook for this by fabricating reasons that perhaps make me feel like I am not wrong for it....but instead I accept that I am wrong....

No, your instincts are right.  Something that can't live outside its host is not a member of that species yet.  Even if it ultimately could become one.

It's most certainly not a child.  But I get that folks have different opinions on this.  But what the right needs to know is that the vast majority of americans want abortion legal and will come out and vote quite bigly to ensure they have it.

The right will get a reminder again in November '24.

Others have pointed out that, barring rape, the answer is essentially yes, the woman controls who she has sex with and if birth control is used.  Your party of science doesn't like the science reality that females bear the offspring of just about every if not every sexual species, and that as such they need to be more judicious in their sexual choices.  So the solution is to kill unborn children at-will, WHEEE$#@!  Equity!
