Suicides hit all-time high in 2022: CDC data

.....The number of U.S. suicide deaths reached an all-time high in 2022, according to provisional data released Thursday from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). ...An estimated 49,449 people died by suicide in the United States last year, up 2.6 percent from the estimated 48,183 in 2021....Suicide trends, however, saw a decrease among young people and an increase among older demographics. Suicide deaths for people aged 10 to 24 decreased by 8.4 percent, dropping to 6,529 in 2022 from 7,126 in 2021. The trend reverses for other age groups. Suicide deaths for people aged 25-44 rose by 0.7 percent, from 16,724 in 2021 to 16,843 in 2022. Such deaths for people aged 45-64 rose by 6.6 percent, from 14,668 to 15,632 in 2022. For people 65 and older, suicide deaths rose by 8.1 percent, from 9,652 in 2021 to 10,433 in 2022.....

.....The suicide rate for American Indian/Alaska Native people also saw a decrease in 2022 — though the sample pool was smaller. Suicide deaths declined by 6.1 percent, from 692 people in 2021 to 650 people in 2022. Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islanders also saw an increase in deaths — albeit with a smaller number of people. Suicide deaths rose by 15.9 percent, from 82 people in 2021 to 95 people in 2022. ....Other demographics saw a steady increase in suicide rates. White suicides rose by 2.1 percent, from 36,681 to 37,459; Black/African American deaths by suicide rose by 3.6 percent, from 3,692 to 3,825; Asian suicide deaths rose by 5.7 percent, from 1,379 to 1,458; and multiracial suicides rose by 7.9 percent, from 631 to 681....The male suicide rate was up 2.3 percent, from 38,358 deaths in 2021 to 39,255 deaths in 2022. The female suicide rate was up 3.8 percent, from 9,825 deaths in 2021 to 10,194 deaths in 2022....

......Suicides climbed to a record 49,500 last year, putting the suicide rate higher than it has been since the beginning of World War II, according to government data released Thursday. Suicide deaths rose 3% in 2022, jumping by more than 1,000 deaths, the new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) show.....Men took their own lives nearly four times as much as women.....A total of 39,255 men committed suicide last year, compared to 10,194 women. Both numbers are higher than in 2021, when suicides spiked 4% and a total of 38,358 men and 9,825 women took their own lives....White men have the highest suicide rate among male racial groups with about 50 suicides per 100,000 men, the CDC said....

Risk factors for men can be loneliness, social alienation, or a weakened sense of meaning or purpose in life, which can result from difficult events like losing a job or the dissolution of a man’s nuclear family, such as through divorce, according to academics. White people made up about 75% of all suicides last year, with more than 37,000 deaths. White Americans are also about 75% of the population, according to last year’s U.S. Census data. Older adults ages 45 to 64 had the highest jump in suicides last year, with nearly 1,000 more suicides for a total of more than 15,000 deaths. However, men 75 and older have the highest rate compared to other age groups, 42 suicides per 100,000 men.....

......Historically, male youths are more likely to die by suicide, while teen girls tend to attempt suicide more often, with about a third of high school girls in the U.S. saying they seriously considered suicide in 2021, according to CDC data. Notably, teen girls’ rates of depression, anxiety, and self-harm spiked in the early 2010s just as social media use was becoming ubiquitous.....Suicides rose every year starting in the early 2000s until 2019, when they dipped slightly before spiking again in 2021 as people struggled with the ongoing pandemic....

I had a friend that killed herself about 5 years ago. She stopped by to chat a few days before. Went to visit her grandmother and then went to a park and ride to blow he brains out.  It was insane.  Had an 8 year old son.

This is true.  The place where most men exist in society is abysmal.  Even a crapper busting fatty woman has a good chance at some d!ck if she asserts herself and is nice.  Dudes, not so much.

I don't think this is necessarily true. 

Not all women are loved unconditionally, and usually must provide something to the man, usually in the way of sexx or physical touch.

I had relationships not work out when I was younger because I refused to have sexx, or refused to do something physical with the dude; or if I told him to wear protection he'd end the relationship. Sounds like I had to provide something in order to receive love or something close to it.

A women who is a 7 has a real chance of being nailed by a male who is a 10.  A dude who is a 7 has very little chance even with a 7.  80 percent of the women believe they deserve guys in the top 10 percent.  The real toxicity is in the women, especially the younger ones who drip with entitlement.

I predicted this years ago, the official Covid thread is so long I’d love for someone to find it.  

You cannot have a single person (or even panel) of infectious disease experts aka Fauci et al. drive policy about lockdowns.  They are laser (tunnel) focused on but one aspect of a virus.  Sure they have a large presence at the table but one also needs economists, psychologists, educators, etc.
