Kevin McCarthy Walks the Plank

Kevin McCarthy will not run for speaker again after the House ousted him from the top leadership post in a historic vote on Tuesday, a move that threatens to plunge House Republicans into even further chaos and turmoil.

“I will not seek to run again for Speaker of the House,” McCarthy wrote on X. “I may have lost a vote today, but I fought for what I believe in—and I believe in America. It has been an honor to serve.”

Bummer that would have provided some comedy out of all this at least.

We have two parties in DC. The uni-party that consists of all democrats and 98% of republicans. Then you have the trumplicans

I cant wait to see all the liberal trolls in the geek club who complain about making predictions start trotting out predictions for next speaker and cry, whine and make excuses when people call them out for their hypocrisy.

i can already hear timschoshet or rusty pontificate something pompous like “this in no way makes me a guy who makes predictions but i think xyz will be the next speaker”

False.

Not the speakers office. I mean, you’d have to be pretty stupid to have thought that :(

And apparently tradition that former speakers got some privileges.

But you don’t care about any of that.

Yep. People like Gaetz, MTG and Trump simply have no interest in governing at all. Don’t care if it happens or not. Wouldn’t know how to do it even if they wanted to.

So if you’re for anarchy, then the GOP is your party.

If you think we should have a government — any government — then you really only have one choice.

Really. gaetz is the only one pushing for policy that makes sense

why do you oppose getting rid of omnibus spending??

You’re embarrassing yourself.

They’ve got 8 votes.

If they join with all democrats they can get rid of the speaker. Good job

You think the Democrats are going to join with the freedom caucus to put in a total right wing nutbag? 😂

Not sure if posted yet, but one of the first things the new acting speaker did was throw Nancy Pelosi out of her office.  🤣

This is why I'm not a Republican either.  These guys can F up a one car train.  Biden's numbers are below that of terminal cancer and they will find a way to blow the election.

Huh?  That doesn't make sense. when you break promises, this is what happens.

I'm trying to understand what you think the problem is here other than what your masters at the DNC Glory Hole told you to say?

Democrats don’t support any Republican speaker. And vice versa. That’s the way it’s always been.

So it was the MAGAtards who joined with the Democrats to oust the Republican speaker. Way to shoot yourselves in the foot, idiots! :overhead:

Because if they didn't, then it would be the Democrats who joined the Republicans, you f****** moron.

Also, I'm trying to understand where you come up with the shoot yourself in the foot mantra. Are you saying that they shouldn't have removed someone who broke promises?

It’s the same reason Pelosi was tossed out of the speakers office. Pelosi promised to help McCarthy but stabbed him in the back so Pee Wee McHendry tossed her out

Is there a scoreboard or something? Is it a competition? Doesn’t seem like that’s the goal of congress

I'm still trying to understand what's your point is. It seems like you're retarded and you're trying to make something where nothing is to be made like a f****** child.  Again, it was the Republicans that forced the vote, not the Democrats so your initial supposition is incorrect if we're even to believe your made up and imaginary competition.

This was a simple bust a deal, face the wheel moment.

Epic sh1tshow

Representative Steve Scalise of Louisiana withdrew on Thursday from consideration for the speakership he was on the cusp of claiming after hard-line Republicans balked at rallying around their party’s chosen candidate, leaving the House leaderless and the G.O.P. in chaos.

After being narrowly nominated for speaker during a Wednesday closed-door secret-ballot contest among House Republicans, Mr. Scalise, their No. 2 leader, found himself far from the 217 votes needed to be elected on the House floor. Many supporters of his challenger, Representative Jim Jordan of Ohio, the right-wing Republican endorsed by former President Donald J. Trump, refused to switch their allegiance.

With no clear end in sight to the G.O.P. infighting that has left one chamber of Congress paralyzed at a time of challenges at home and abroad, Mr. Scalise said he would step aside in hopes that someone else could unite the fractious party.

CNN —

House Republicans have picked Rep. Jim Jordan as their new speaker nominee, though it is unclear if the Ohio Republican can win enough support to secure the gavel in a full House vote as the conference faces a leadership crisis.

But Jordan is facing stiff resistance to be elected speaker on the floor from more than 50 Republicans, meaning he’s got an even tougher math problem than the one that doomed the bid of Majority Leader Steve Scalise, who initially won the GOP speaker nomination but dropped out of the race abruptly Thursday evening after facing a hardened bloc of opposition.

LOL Jim Jordan 🤡
