I take that back. When I did have a job like that it was waiting tables. Honorable profession but they would fight you if you called out for any reason. Some businesses don't know how to run them. That's how they end up with unhappy employees and the owners live an angry paranoid life. They also go out of business much faster than other properly run businesses. Mookz 1,338 Posted October 21, 2023 Probably not a bad idea to take a selfie with your logs, holding up that day's newspaper. Just in case it goes to trial or anything.

You should have to. Common profession courtesy sense means if you miss one day, take it and rest. You miss the next day? Yea a note then is required. You miss day’s frequently? Such as 1-2 a month? I’m gonna need a note. But for ONE day? Fock off

I haven't missed a day due to illness in over 20 years. I was forced to take a week off last year after testing positive for the Wuhan Flu but I would've showed up for work if they'd have let me. I'm not going to see a Dr unless I've broken a bone or have a medical condition that requires a prescription for something I can't get OTC. And even then, I'm not coming back with a focking note. I said where I was and why. Believe it or don't.

I like to at least give them time off but if they show it to be a habit requiring a note is fine to me if I owned the business I’d just give employees leeway. Hence, why when I was deployed and was the leader of the team everyone liked me. As long as you get ur job done Idgaf what you do. But I also understand ppl that are chronically calling out being problems that need to have notes

One of the perks for being a dependable, hard working employee, is not being questioned when you need to miss a day. If you're missing multiple days every month, you should be put on probation. If you keep calling out, you should be terminated. There are plenty of people who need the job.
Pimpadeaux 2,404 Posted October 21, 2023 Yoopers feel a greater sense of self-worth when they refer to their lunch and dinner shifts at the Smelt-In-A-Box as "projects."

I've been mostly commission for almost a decade. I hustled my ass off the first few years to put me in position these days to work 20-25 hours a week, set my own hours and have as many vacation and sick days as I want. I work for a Fortune 100 company but don't really have a boss, and management is there in a servant-leadership and supportive role. I could spend summers in an RV in Montana and work. I more than paid my dues working for soul-sucking, incompetent jerks.

Hasn’t ever called out, hasn’t ever been late, hasn’t ever asked to leave work early, has been dependable and done good work (for me at least), etc. I’m actually friends with the guy and have grabbed a beer with him a few times. Which is why I was surprised when I heard that in the office this week.
BeachGuy23 642 Posted October 21, 2023 Yet one more benefit of being a professional. Even when I wasn't the boss I could take sick time if I was sick and my boss just assumed I was sick. Since I've been the boss all these years I assume the same. You're a professional and will get treated as such until you've proven you're not professional. Then we part ways since I have no time to be babysitting my folks. I'm there to support my people and give them the resources they need to be successful. If they fail after that it's because they're not up to the job. Happens sometimes. But lol at requiring a doctor's note. As a grown man...

supermike80 1,804 Posted October 21, 2023 35 years in my industry. I've paid my dues I guess. Cause if i wanna take an hour, a half day, or a day off, for whatever reason, my boss doesn't care one bit.
