Brock “NotSo” Purdy has turned into a punkin

Recommended Posts

Highest rated QB in the league more than halfway through the season, pretty incredible story.

He's in a perfect situation and the 9ers are lucky to have him.

Purdy is a great story but he’s not even MVP of his own team much less the NFL.

The highest rated passer in the league (& QBR) who's QB'ing a Superbowl contender is obviously an MVP contender. It would be very silly to suggest otherwise.

Everyone knows McCaffrey is the MVP of that offense and Purdy is more a function of the 49ers success than vice versa.

Edit: Hurts and Mahomes are no doubt more valuable to their teams success. I’d put Tyreek and maybe even Dak up there too.

Sure, if you don't watch the games, that's what I'd expect you to say.

Wait - you actually think Purdy will win NFL MVP this year?

I do, absolutely, if he keeps up his elite level of play.

Do you know what the word contender means?

If Purdy is clearly the most valuable QB in the league, wouldn’t he win it going away?

I think Stroud is the Most Valuable QB in the league right now, is that crazy?

If the Texans make the postseason, not at all. He’s as deserving of it as Purdy.

Purdy is a game manager, Stroud wins on his own merit

Game managing at a historic level.

Strouds next three are vs Jax, Denver and the Jets. If he wins two of those games and they make the playoffs he’s a serious contender.

9ers are 4th in pts per game.  Basically tied with Eagles.  How is Purdy a game manager?  He isn't holding onto 17-14 wins.

I wouldn’t go that far. But I’m quite sure of you dropped Stroud into the 49ers situation he’d put up the same numbers or better. I’m less confident the Texans would be as good with Purdy at quarterback.

So this topic is gonna be a slap fight huh?

He plays a good game, his backers say "See! He's the real deal"

He plays a bad game, the other side is gonna say "Ah-HAHHH! Told you so, he sucks"

Then, ONLY IF he wins a SB, his backers will get to to say "We we're right, he's the real deal" to cap this season. Insert other media

If he doesn't win the SB, the other side will say "Hahahahahha.... he couldn't get it done!"

Then next year...it all starts over.

Agree 💯. Purdy is nothing special but he's a nice game manager. That'll work on a team like SF, it wouldn't play out on a bad team. Stroud has taken an average Texans team and turned it into a viable playoff contender.

He's a lock for Offensive Rookie Of The Year and possibly MVP IMO.

No problem.

I just.... the NFL... there's no guarantees or things in stone. The line graphs are all over the place with player and team performance.  They always have been, always will be.

It bugs me when so many people act like what happened today or yesterday is indicative what's gonna happen the rest of the year.

"Average" is being nice. The Texans picked second to get Stroud because they were one off the ass-end of the league last year. He's elevated one of last year's worst hot garbage teams into a fight for a playoff spot.

Which side of the Purdy argument are you referring to? Because Purdy has the last TWO games, the 2 in a row most greatest games for a QB in NFL history,

and his entire season taken together puts him on pace for MVP. He should be the favorite right now and if I don't go put money on him to win the MVP this year, I'm probably making a mistake, win or lose, at current odds, it's a good bet.

Gotta throw Tommy DeVito in the mix too.

I figured he’d be much shorter

There are only 2 MVP candidates this year and while Purdy is doing a very good job overall, his name isn't Christian McCaffrey or C.J. Stroud, so he's not one of them.

Hurts looked like a pretty good game manager yesterday.   150 passing no pass tds.  Only 29 rushing but popped a couple into the endzone.  And that's being down by 10 at half.  Leaned on his defense to shutout the Chiefs in the 2nd half.

Elite game manager.

Lordy. Managing the shlt out of the QB position.

All of this is incredible but, the info below really crushes the accepted narratives about Purdy.

#1 Passer Rating under pressure
#1 Completion % under pressure
#1 Yards per attempt under pressure

McCaffrey is very impressive.

It'll be interesting to see who's in the conversation for this week, other than Purdy.
