Scientist replicate nuclear fusion breakthrough 3 times.

With 200 lasers and a peppercorn-sized fuel capsule, scientists inch closer to mastering fusion energy

Scientists in California shooting nearly 200 lasers at a cylinder holding a fuel capsule the size of a peppercorn have taken another step in the quest for fusion energy, which, if mastered, could provide the world with a near-limitless source of clean power.

Last year on a December morning, scientists at the National Ignition Facility at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California (LLNL) managed, in a world first, to produce a nuclear fusion reaction that released more energy than it used, in a process called “ignition.”

Now they say they have successfully replicated ignition at least three times this year, according to a December report from the LLNL. This marks another significant step in what could one day be an important solution to the global climate crisis, driven primarily by the burning of fossil fuels.

For decades, scientists have attempted to harness fusion energy, essentially recreating the power of the sun on Earth.

Power of the sun!

thats great, unfortunately neither side will allow that

guarantee if we spent all the money we have on green garbage the last 50 years and oil advancement on nuclear we would have have fusion reactors in our garage next to the water heater and they wouldnt be able to monetize it

This is something we should be dumping a ton of cash into (go ahead and insert Ukraine comments here).

I’m talking a Manhattan Project level commitment. Make it happen and in 20 years we are good!

Or tax cuts to super rich people, or Defense spending 10x the next country when can go on about spending for awhile. Republicans have no leg to stand on here when it comes to budgets and deficits.

That convo aside this would be a very powerful and compelling argument to make I think by a skilled speaker and savvy politician. We don’t have that at the moment.

Yep. An energy source that is renewable, clean and safe. Hell yeah!

Wealthy people providing jobs are a direct threat to the government becoming more powerful, so yeah, let them be rich and employ people. Employed people tend to commit less crime, less crimes makes our lives better and lowers costs, more people working and buying increases tax revenue......so you can keep your government-driven economy....I will happily accept a business-driven one.  Policies that focus on empowering business are better for us....the government is an impediment to our well-being.....

I’ll agree to disagree about the effectiveness of these cuts.

In any case this is beside the point of this thread which is much more interesting - this project and what comes out of it could be the most impactful thing to our lives and the future. It’s right there.

This is something we can all get excited about if they can produce it at large scale. A week ago or so, I'd read that there were some breakthroughs at University of Wisconsin on a certain spray they are using to help keep the reaction temperature hot. So, multiple groups are making simultaneous progress on it all.

The World Is Ending In 2022 Kooks will certainly find something wrong with it. Remember this Tards nonsense?

Love it. Now pump money into it or give incentives out to the company that gets there first or whatever idea. Just make this happen and help it along.

Whoa, slow down Chief.

These things take time, we could blow up the World or unleash a deadly virus if not perfected. Ohhhh hell, let's do it. 🎉

Look rhetoric aside. Fossil Fuels as a main energy source is not the future. We can agree there, right?

Of course, that was a joke. But until then, let's drill the F out of this place!

Pump the brakes.  WEF says water shortages are the new crisis.  You know how much cooling water large scale nuclear will take?  Someone’s authoritative narrative has to crumble first.

Leftists will find a reason to hate it.  Just like they hate nuclear power.  “Progressive” my ass.

And don't forget, lithium power is great and totally safe for the environment.

Isn't that right Libs? Anyone?

I am not a car guy, but the instant speed and smooth ride are def the high points for me. The software updates and no gas also aren’t too bad.

Rented a car recently and had to pump gas into it at the end like a Philistine. Never going back!

That Plaid would snap your neck in half if you weren't careful. But it's like a Golf Cart in the sense that it's instant power to the wheels.

My Wife hated it, she was scared to death of it.

Gotcha. Yeah the instant torque is no joke. Those Plaid versions have video game numbers for speed 😂

They will have to figure out how to take this unlimited power, limit it, and then charge for it before they will finish developing it.  If they do not it would eliminate haves and have nots, and that is not going to happen.
