I guess if you are saying:  he sounds like he always does, which is old and demented, then I agree with you.  And Occam's Razor indicates in this case that Garland is making up crap about future witnesses not cooperating to protect Biden from the country hearing how he really sounds.

Anyway, it's been fun battling er.... discussing these topics with you today.  I learned a little about signs of dementia of which I was not aware, and will keep my eye out for them getting worse with Trump.

My mother has it.  It's an incredibly heart breaking disease.  The only perception I have of it is that kills you to watch someone die from it and it can rip families apart. I don't really give a fock if anyone in either political party has it, and it's not shaping any of my perceptions of political candidates. If Biden (or Trump) indeed has this and their families ARE aware, it's horrid that they are allowing either one of them to run as Presidential candidates.  I am just making an observation; given what I've seen first hand every day for the last four years. 

If you have never had a close family member die from this, you're lucky.

Did it occur to you that Gutterboy might be in the early stages and that is why you're having so much trouble reaching common ground?  Maybe you should apply your new found knowledge of signs of dementia to his posts in this thread.

I don't think he has dementia.  I can't figure him out.  Most people, as they age, either stay the same politically or become more conservative.  Gutter used to be conservative, and has become much more Left.

That is part of that but I have become more liberal as well. For example there are things that I believes in for years that I discovered I was wrong about.

Example: trickle down economics.  I always bought the theory but after 50 years of data, it just doesn't work.

Where Republicans lost me: I have been and continue to be fiscally responsible.  W Bush blew that and proved that Republicans don't care about it anymore.  I also supported the war on terror.  I'm more in the middle on this one after seeing what has become of the middle east after we declared war on it.

And then maga.  Maga was the final nail in the coffin.  Life long tenants of the right have been shattered.  Personal responsibility, decency, accountability, family values, patriotism, all abandoned by the maga movement.

I've always believed in fairness, limited government in private lives, respect for all, and these values more align with the left these days than the right.

Similar for me. I was a registered Republican and voted Republican pretty strictly for a long time. I hated when Democrats lionized Obama during his term and I thought "At least the Republicans wouldn't do that. They are the party of substance over style." Then Trump came along and so many people on the right just decided to lionize him and throw away so many principles of what the party was just so they wouldn't run afoul of Trump and his arrogant bluster. And the MAGA folks won't admit it but they have fallen for personality and style over substance. Not to mention a guy who codes so much of what he says in ignorance and racism. Now to be fair- I don't think Trump himself is racist. I think he is mildly racist in the same way a lot of people are (not overtly racist but more subconscious at times), but I do think quite a few people that he has put into place over his time- or those he listens to- are racist.

The hero worship of Trump and how everything had to be funneled through him (even the 2022 primaries every single mailer I got was all about Trump and then the name of the actual candidate was tiny) is what finally pushed me to switch my political affiliation to independent.

 

i found it funny when people here were sharing the Elon Musk thing and saying "The right isn't moving, it's the left and it makes the right look differently." No the right is moving too and that political continuum is stretched like an overused rubber band at this point.
