I’m with you here. Baseball should be 4 and NFL 12. I don’t follow the other leagues you listed.

Isn't the NBA at 20 including "play-in" teams?

We didn’t need the Marlins, Rockies, Rays, or D-bags. Go back to 2 divisions with the winner making the postseason. And while we are at it, FOCK inter-league play. The AL and NL should only cross paths at the all star game and World Series.

This is not a playoff game. It's a play-in game to try and get the 8th seed. They have to win and then win again (against the loser of the Heat - Sixers game) to get into the playoffs.

Four should be it in all those leagues.

Four teams that’s all.

By that logic, the NFL Wildcard round isn't a playoff game - it's a play-in game!

In other words, it's a playoff game.

I didn't define it, the NBA does.

Just a way for the owners and leagues to make more revenue and extend the seasons for profit. I’m finished with the NFl and NBA. Not remotely close to what it was.

I’m sure the nfl and the nba will never recover since you’ve been gone.

it is 2024. All teams should be included in the playoffs.

"The NBA has also determined the play-in games don't count as either regular or postseason games."

NFL is okay with 14. better with 12 but NFL greed is too strong. Those extra 2 games are big for them.

MLB needed to expand. 8 teams was too few for such a loooong ass season.  I think 10 would have been okay if the two wildcard teams played a best of 5 as opposed to ... wasn't it just a single elim game they played before? Not going to complain about 12 though.... again 162 games is a loooong season.

NBA is a joke. It's all super teams, the teams are run by the stars, coaching barely matters and they started the play in tournament to help curb more instances of "the process" and to make sure LeFlop was in the playoffs.

NHL - no one cares

No more than four teams.  Let’s make the regular season count.

For a few years in the '80s, the NHL had 16 out of 21 teams, and the NBA had 16 out of 23 teams making the playoffs. Talk about ridiculous. I guess you can give them credit for keeping it at 16 as they expanded . Although, the NBA play-in is stupid.

I'm fine with 12 teams max, at least it's still less than half.

I didn't know that. They played an entire regular season to eliminate 5 teams?

Might as well demote those five to a lower league like soccer relegation.

Neither the Hawks nor Bulls made the playoffs.

Team with worst record in this years NBA Playoffs has 47 wins and 35 losses and it's the Lakers.

If the REGULAR SEASON is OVER and a team is STILL PLAYING trying to ADVANCE in the playoffs... it's a playoff game.  What difference does it make what the NBA calls it?

"The NBA officially names it a play-in game, so it's not really a playoff game."  You're really taking that stance?

nah, I'm not going to take that stance. I don't like the play-in tournament, but once it's over I do like 16 teams left, each having to win series of games to advance.

I admit. I'm full-on clueless when it comes to the NBA "play in" concept.
