Caitlin Clark debut

Is that guy part of the GC?  Wow, over 2,000 followers!!!

The point is Carter has a history of being dirty, she didn’t just “attack” Clark for being white, that’s ludicrous.

I wouldn't use her for opinions.  I've been seeing her post about Clark a lot and she has an extreme bias against her.

I wasn’t, have no clue who she is, I was using the video of Clark shoving someone probably worse than Carter shoved her.

What Clark did was definitely worse.  I remember watching that and it was bad.  It was also last year in college.

The video clip of Clark's dirty play was from the national championship game against SC in 2024, right? Which was roughly 2 months ago?

Your post saying "it was also last year in college" seemed to insinuate that it was somewhat old news and not exactly relevant to current discussions of physical or borderline dirty play.

I just thought it was ironic that there had been excuses earlier in this thread for her slow start based on the quick turnaround time but then when it comes to that play, the importance of the timeline changes

No.  It was from out of conference play at the beginning of the season 6 months ago.  Since then she has:

Played a full college season.

Won the Big 10 tournament.

Made it to the NCAA Championship.

Got drafted.

Started in 11 professional games in 20 days.

Rookie of the month for May.

This is not a joke. I would go out and find the biggest, baddest, tallest woman I could find if I were Clarks team. Sign her to a contract and let her just sit there watching. Waiting. One goal in mind. Like old school hockey. You wanna rough my star up? ok? Let's see how your star likes it when Olga the soul snatcher from Kiev launches her into the stands. I bet people stop doing that. I watched a video in boys basketball where this kid went up for an easy layup/dunk and the defender trailing him intentionally took his legs out from under him causing him to land super hard. By the time the kid who had his legs taken out could even get to the guy who did it one of his teammate came running down the court and absolutely crushed the guy with a clothesline. If she can not get her people to stand up for her like that she will be broken by the end of the season.

So, if one of the Hason Brothers had a daughter and that is what we are looking for.  Someone to put on the foil.

Sorry, I got two incidents mixed up.  So the video that was posted in this thread was older but I was thinking of an incident from the national championship game in April.

gotcha. it was against south carolina though right?  thats why i thought it was the title game in april.

though I will say nothing else you mentioned means a dirty player all of the sudden is this innocent little white girl (nor the opposite)

She shoved a girl on Purdue-FW back at the end of November.  It was a bad look and I don't know what she was thinking.  It was during the play and not a dead ball though.

Stuff like that doesn't bother during the play of the game.  Should be a foul but nothing flagrant.  I don't want players to take it easy on Clark during normal play, she can handle it.  It's the crap during a dead ball that is bush league.

that play is pretty flagrant to me. Way more than an average push off. Doesn't even look like much of a flop on the part of the other girl. Clark looks like she's following through on an NFL sled drill.

Guess my point is, the more i have read and seen it doesn't seem like Clark is some innocent player who hasn't dished out her share of questionable plays but nwo the focus has shifted to her being bullied in the WNBA

Exactly what they should be looking for . They should sign Mya Lesner to come play for them when she graduates. Who cares that she does the shot put  and is 5 ft 3.   1 or 2 captain insano powerbombs a year on an opposing player and she earns her money and sends the message.

Nobody watches the WNBA. Nobody with a life anyway.

I'd rather watch grass grow while getting a root canal.

She’s taking more credit than she deserves but she’s not totally wrong.  Their interaction 2 seasons ago with the “you can’t see me” thing probably did help raise the interest level around Clark/women’s basketball.

Sky's Angel Reese ejected vs. Liberty after spat with official

https://www.espn.com/wnba/story/_/id/40281397/sky-angel-reese-ejected-vs-liberty-spat-official

Chicago Sky rookie forward Angel Reese was ejected after drawing two technical fouls for disagreeing with an official in the fourth quarter of Tuesday's 88-75 loss to the visiting New York Liberty.

Reese was called for her fifth personal foul with 2:31 left and then called for two technical fouls by the same official, Charles Watson. Reese appeared to say something to Watson and then quickly waved her hand.

"I tried to get an explanation. I did not," Sky coach Teresa Weatherspoon said in the postgame news conference. "I don't know to this moment what has happened."

Lead official Maj Forsberg told reporters after the game that Reese's technical fouls were for "disrespectfully addressing" the official and then for "waving her hand in dismissal."

Reese, who finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds in 24 minutes, did not appear at the news conference. Her Sky teammate Marina Mabrey was on the court when Reese was ejected and was asked about Reese's exchange with the official.

"She got two techs, she said something to the ref," Mabrey said. "Whatever he felt like was the correct call is what he made. It's more about composure for us in our young years in the WNBA. You've got to get to know refs and how they respond to things."

The Chicago Bulls' Lonzo Ball, who was in attendance at the game, said on X that he would pay the $400 fine Reese faces from the WNBA for the two technical fouls.

For the first three technical fouls in a season, the WNBA assesses a $200 fine for each. Technicals four to six each get a $400 fine. A seventh technical foul brings an $800 fine plus a one-game suspension. Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark and the Phoenix Mercury's Natasha Cloud each have three technicals this season.

"Ref that threw out @Reese10Angel is weak btw," Ball wrote. "You know who you are (Keep ya money Angel I got you)."

Reese replied: "appreciate you gang!"

Tuesday was the first game for the Sky since their 71-70 loss at Indiana on Saturday in which Chicago guard Chennedy Carter was called for a foul when she shoulder-checked Clark from behind and knocked her to the floor. That foul was upgraded to a flagrant 1 on Sunday after a review by the league. In addition, Reese was fined $1,000 and the Sky organization $5,000 after Saturday's game for violating the league's media policy, as Reese was not made available to media.

Carter received cheers from the Sky crowd at Wintrust Arena when she entered the game Tuesday. She had a team-high 16 points coming off the bench for Chicago (3-5).

The Sky led the Liberty 66-65 after three quarters but were outscored 23-9 in the fourth by New York (8-2). Breanna Stewart led the Liberty with 33 points and 14 rebounds.

"You can't melt down against them," Mabrey said of the Sky's fourth-quarter struggles. "And at the end of the day, we melted down. It's composure."

I never played football, but I played a sport in college which is more than probably 90% of people here can say.  And a guy from my sport just got signed by the Bills despite never playing a down of football in his life.

WNBA rescinds 2nd technical foul against Sky's Angel Reese

https://www.espn.com/wnba/story/_/id/40284955/wnba-rescinds-2nd-technical-foul-sky-angel-reese

The second technical foul called Tuesday against Chicago Sky rookie forward Angel Reese has been rescinded by the WNBA, the league said Wednesday.

Reese was ejected after drawing two technical fouls for disagreeing with an official in the fourth quarter of the Sky's 88-75 loss to the visiting New York Liberty.

Reese was called for her fifth personal foul with 2:31 left and then called for two technical fouls by the same official, Charles Watson. Reese appeared to say something to Watson and then quickly waved her hand.

Reese, who finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds in 24 minutes, did not appear at the news conference.

The Chicago Bulls' Lonzo Ball, who was in attendance at the game, said on X that he would pay the $400 fine Reese faced from the WNBA for the two technical fouls. Now, that fine will be $200 since it's only one technical foul.

I saw the ejection and it was pretty stupid.  Officiating is so bad.

So glad this thread didn't drop from the first page.

So I made a mistake. After further consideration I actually do think she is pretty good. I think she is getting the shaq treatment and that teams are just hacking the ever loving shittt out of her. When she is allowed to play she seems to absolutely be able to  produce at a high level. The team around her is a hot pile of trash. No protection for her. No one stepping up to help her. No one to act as an enforcer or a secondary scorer for them. She is in a shitt situation on a shitt team with a coach who has no idea what is going on. Once they get an enforcer out there I think her ppg avg will actually be near the top. The numbers in this case actually do lie. While she is not averaging 30ppg like a star would I would bet you that had she been playing for one of the "good" teams like the Aces she would be putting up those number.

81 percent of the WNBA is made up of people of color and you have a college educated women explaining how the WNBA has a younger white privilege. That is insane liberal nonsense. Even when they are vastly outnumbered she has to explain that the 19 percent of white girls there are inherently privileged simply because they are white.

Obviously she means privilege in terms of the media coverage. But is it really true other than Clark? This girl looks kind of familiar but pretty sure I couldn’t have told you her name until reading that article
