June 27 Presidential debate

Recommended Posts

Conservatives will have only themselves to blame when Biden wins this debate. They’ve been lying for months now about his supposed diminished capacities, claiming he can’t remember what he had for breakfast, poops his pants, etc. Now they’ll have to make up reasons why he appeared alert and lucid: drugs, etc.

They know they lied about him drooling and sh1tting his pants, so they started the drug use lies before we ever got to the debate.

Conservatives shouldn’t ever bring up social security or debt issues until they come up with plans for fixing them. We already know that if Trump gets in he’s going to massively increase the debt, as he did last time even before Covid, and do nothing to address Social Security.

What have democrats done about it since Reagan addressed it with a split government?

Agree. So Tim can stop applying blame to one of them.

Let's see if the magic juice is put right. They have enough time to experiment with the elixor to male it just right. They screwed the pooch with the angry, vein popping shot they gave him for the SOTU.

Oopsie

“according to a new analysis by the fiscal watchdog group Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, which showed that President Trump approved $8.4 trillion in new 10-year borrowing during his four years in office, compared to $4.3 trillion for President Joe Biden”

Oh I agree that both parties are nearly equally guilty. I say nearly because from time to time Democrats raise taxes and that reduces the annual deficit a little bit (not much but a little.) Republicans do nothing at all. Neither side cuts spending, ever.

But I call out Republicans more because (1) they are the ones who always b!tch about it, especially when a Democrat is President, despite doing nothing and (2) because Republicans, when in power, ALWAYS increase the debt and deficit way more than Democrats do. It’s not even close. They are completely irresponsible when it comes to this, Trump most of all.

The accusation is that Biden has dementia. Like many people here I have had family members who suffered from this. If you have it, there is no drug, no remedy that can make you temporarily more alert. I wish there was.

The debates have never held much interest for me as debates as the participants are never held to account for not addressing the questions asked.  Typically the participants start off with some variation of "what I hear you asking is..."  They then rephrase the question beyond recognition and give a canned response, a nonresponse if you will.

It's not a light switch. You don't just have it full blown or don't at all all the time. It happens in stages.

The white house physician for obama and Trump came out and stated that creepy joe is impaired mentally and his handlers are doing dangerous things by shooting him up for these events. He doesn't know exactly what they are giving him but he knows 100% they are doing it. And he shared multiple drugs they are probably using in some sort of combination.

Why do you deny that dude often time wanders aimlessly and is obviously lost in his head? It's stupid that you deny it.

And what will Biden do regarding debt if he wins a 2nd term ?

As for SS, at least Trump doesn't already have a record of focking over recipients who had the gall to treat SS as what it was intended to be.

A supplement to other retirement savings/income. So people that planned accordingly, & saved, have to pay taxes on up to 85% of it, while those who didn't, pay nothing.

Biden will spend a little. Not as much as Trump will. If Biden has control of Congress he will raise taxes. But I doubt the Dems will win in the Senate.

If you’re truly concerned about these issues, neither candidate is a good choice but Biden is much better than Trump. And that’s true with regard to all economic issues.

How can you say Biden would be a better choice in regards to all economic issues ? I'll be one of those that has to pay taxes on up to 85% of my Social Security.

Not that it would ever happen, but if I could place a bet on which of those 2 would be more likely to change that, I'd be all in on Trump.

I have 750 K in unrealized LT capital gains, & would like to begin realizing those and invest in something safer.

Which one of those 2 would be more likely to change that in my favor ?

Knowing this, would you still be willing to say Biden is much better than Trump ?

Yes. Because none of the issues you mentioned is as important as Trump’s tariff plan. It will be a catastrophe to our economy. It will make your savings worthless.

When you say it will make my savings worthless, are you literally referring to savings ?

Maybe your definition of savings is different than mine ?

I consider savings to be money kept liquid in case of an emergency, or if you're planning a major purchase.

Those were worthless as recently as late 2021, when interest rates bottomed.

Or are you referring to Investments, such as individual stocks, mutual funds, ETFs, REIT's etc ?

If you're referring to investments, tell me why those would be worthless due to Trump's tariff plan.

I read the article: I almost fell out of my chair when I saw the following quote

"Many Americans are concerned about inflation, which has come down remarkably fast"

Right then I knew Reuters must be highly biased because that's simply BS.

FYI: My plate is way too full starting tomorrow (Wednesday) through Friday.

If you respond, don't be surprised if I don't reply until Saturday.

Treatment, not a cure.  I drink several a day on a hot summer day yet I still suffer from the dementia.  Not to the extent of Biden, but I am effected.  Still the best minds in the democratic party have been working on this the past week.  I look forward to them publishing their results and making the "Biden cocktail", whatever that is, available to us  under medicare.

What can I tell ya? 16 Nobel prize winners. I kind of trust them about economic issues, though I really didn’t need them to tell me that Trump’s two main ideas of high tariffs and mass deportations of migrant workers will both be economic catastrophes.

And now Reuters is biased???

Arguments from Authority?  You think that's gonna' work?  Do you have any thoughts of your own?  Or do you go along and just let them tell you not to believe your lying' eyes and ears?

One of the biggest problems we face today is the conservative rejection of any expert that tells them something they don’t want to hear. With Covid that cost us millions of lives. With climate change it’s leading us towards catastrophe.

But to answer your question, of course I have thoughts of my own. Here’s one: high tariffs will be an absolute disaster for the American economy. Trump’s words on this issue demonstrate he understands nothing about economic issues and cannot be trusted.

The problem is your average simpleton doesn’t understand what it means for inflation to come down.

They think that means we’re going to turn back the clock to 2019 prices

And to show how stupid that belief is — why stop there? Shouldn’t we go back to 2010 prices? 1990? Hell how about the 50s when a coke was a nickel

If they understood that it just means prices won’t increase by as much going forward, they’d be pretty happy with the situation.

But they don’t know what they’re talking about, so here we are.
