I don't know how single people do it.

Recommended Posts

So I've been married 23 years.  Over the years we've been apart quite a bit as I was sent out for weeks to months at a time for TDY's.  During that time I'd be able to come home for a week or so in between if it was a particularly long stint.

Now... wife in Japan and me here in Colorado Springs, it's been about 2 and a half months since I've seen her.

Boys... this seriously focking sucks.  I'm absolutely not a fan of being away from my wife this long.

Unlike some who like to b!tch and complain about their wives and how this would be great... no... this is terrible.  I don't know how anyone wants to be single in their 40's or 50's.  Granted... I realize there are some really bad situations that need to end, but for my situation... ya this sucks.

When you're a regular on farmersonly.com, it stands to reason that chickens are your go-to fock on those lonely nights on the farm.

met one chick there, so we were talking about the site on our date, and I am like so whats it like for the girls there, cause there is an abundance of beautiful women on there

like every single guy looked like hes been carrying hay and roping cattle since he was 2

I went back to hinge, tinder, bumble, facebook, etc

I spent a year doing all that back in 2011-2012. It was fun for a year, but I prefer the grind of a day-to-day relationship and companionship.

We have a farm, too. It's in some craptastic corner of Arkancrapass. It'll all be ours some day, at which point I'll advocate the growing of dental floss and weed.

my farms are nothing but weed, currently I have the best woman I have found in 6 years, beautiful, kind, sweet, loving, everything that will actually make me stop whoring around, and its been easy not to do with her

I work and travel so much, its hard to even see myself ever living with another woman, but I want to with her

I don’t you, that you need to stop with the weed.  Shame.

Why? God gave us weed to use for a variety of reasons. You could prolly replace 100 or more pharmaceuticals with marijuana alone. And it would be much healthier for you because it's natural.

It has been. But I also wasn’t gonna settle this time around. The woman I’m with now is that one that makes me want her around every day. I miss when I’m not

Cannabis has a ton of medicinal qualities. But that discussion is for another thread.

That's the same way I am with my dog.

Outside of work, 6 days a week, 8 hours a day. He's with me at all times, whatever I do, or am.

Single people don't have that companionship to miss. They do their thing and hook up when possible.

We'll be celebrating 26 years in a couple of weeks. We are good with a week here and there but I couldn't imagine being apart for over 2 months. Sh!t, the dogs would drive me nuts laying at the front door, staring out the window waiting for her to come home. Let alone how I would be feeling.

Here's hoping you get to reunite soon.

Yeah heading back with my son next week.  We'll be in Japan for 3 weeks.

Then I come back and do 2 more months before I retire and move over permanently.

Nice! It's almost over. Hang in there pal.

Is the move permanent or are you guys returning to the states at some point?

We'll do 3 years and then they move us back with a guaranteed job return for her.  She has a pretty good opportunity for a GS-13 next year when her boss rotates out, but if she doesn't get it we'll put in for Germany or Italy.

I appreciate it man... I really do.  Drifting I to some depression spots now and again.  If it wasn't being able to see my son stationed here in the Space Force and lifting 4 days a week I'd go crazy.

You can always hang out here with us geeks. This place is a sure fire way to stave off depression.

I would bet that many of the Bible's prophets were on hallucinogens.  Revelations was definitely an acid trip.

Also, two months would drive me nuts.  I was just away from my wife for two weeks and we both missed each other a bunch.  It was worse for her because she was with her mother who is failing cognitively and barely speaks; I was in Scotland with my son for half the time.  Regardless, I missed sharing the experiences with her.

Mmmbeer, why you doing this then? Life doesn’t last forever and you never know what’s in store. These moments are precious. If I were you I’d ride this one out and don’t do it again no matter what financial advantage you convince yourself of. I mean it’s great to plan for the future but you gotta live in the present

I think of all the men that fought our wars , some of them in POW camps and how they made it through.  Those guys were different.

I can't retire until I'm 50... at the end of October I'll have enough leave built up to be done... albeit I retire as a GS 14/07 with LEAP on 11/30/2024.

Then... I'm done.  Totally done... at 49 yo and 2 weeks shy of 50.

I'll have my pension, RAS (retirement annuity supplement ie fake soc security from 50-62), and early access to my TSP (.gov's 401k) totalling around $114k gross a year for life.... from 49, almost 50 on... I'll never have to work again.

We tried to push the Japan pcs thing back as far as we could but they made her go in May.  The last 5 months I have left HAVE be done from the States... so... it is what it is.

Other side of the coin... she's super jelly of the time I get to spend with our son here.

This isn't just a quick money thing... this is the last part of a 26 year career.

Can't be fluffed... can't be negotiated... gotta be done.  We knew it was gonna suck.  It just.... does.  Haha...  but I think this next three weeks will really help recharge the batteries for the final push of the last couple months left.
