That they have a higher than normal rate of:

Psychological health problems, suicide, divorce, alcoholism, domestic violence, use of force, job loss, depression, PTSD, aggression, distrust, cynicism, alienation, secretiveness, and, of course, authoritarianism. 

Law enforcement is tough work, and we should all be proud of the sacrifices those who serve endure, as well as the significant toll it takes on them mentally, physically, and emotionally. Most departments offer various means of psychological support to their forces, which is definitely a good thing.
