I think this is where our resident liberals come in and tell us that nobody wants socialism, even though every college kid (presumably voting age) in this video initially said they prefer socialism.

They also, of course, vote for Socialism every election.  It's a plank in the Democrat Party platform.  Socialism isn't going to happen overnight, which is what some GC seem to think - it's a slow process that when it gets here it will be too late.  The Democrat Party is actively doing this by taking bits and pieces of the Socialist agenda and sneaking them into legislation, disguising them under cute slogans ("Help the People Act"!) that sound virtuous.

Liberals are also actively voting more Socialists into office every election on the Democrat side.  At some point within the next decade "The Democrat Party" is going to need a name change.

The original video for this came out a long time ago... before Trump's re-election bid I believe.  So I'll say 2019?  If you ask college kids the same questions today, I wonder if you get the same type of answers.  If you asked those same kids that question today, I wonder if they give the same answer.

Socialism is why the government owns the means of production, not a high tax rate.

They are no longer kids and if they have jobs, I bet they have changed their minds.

True, I guess.  I mean, if they were 18... they weren't kids in the first place, right.  LOL

You have more faith in them than I do.  Look at the people who post here that would jump for joy if Harris wins.

Guy I went to High School with (year older than me)  is my new mailman, saw me outside yesterday. Walked over to me, I was with my son. He says to me. Hey Mr. *mylastname*  I turn and say "What's up kid, how you been"   After, we are walking in my son says "why do you call everyone kid"  :dunno:

My rule of thumb for age is half of mine.  I'm 44, so if you're 22 or under, you're still a kid.

Interesting.  I'm 57 and my oldest (son) is 28.  When he turns 29 in April, he will be more than half my age for the first time.  I'm getting younger!  😜

WINNER!!!  My son just turned 28 last month... I passed the point of being doubled his age for the last time a looong time ago.  I was still in my early 30's when that happened.  He turned 16 the same year I turned 32.  Glad you weren't like me.

Why did he call you "Mr.XXX"? Why not just "Ed"?

I'm guessing he forgot your first name.

Wrong again jer bear. This newest generation is seeing how hard it is to get ahead now and they’re flirting hard with socialism as a result. And we’re not talking higher top end marginal tax rates and estate taxes (which I support), or even socialized medicine (which might be necessary), but socialized housing and all that sh1t. It goes too far but at the same time it is a rational response for people seeing that they’ve been focked over since they were born and for decades earlier too.

The first sentence is flawed. Woke students do not support socialism.

They are Marxists and Marxism is a subset of socialism.

how do you classify these woke students politically?

Is this the 2024 video version of the old chain email that would go around 10-15 years ago with the college professor doing this in a class?

I wish they had used equity instead of socialism.  That would avoid the petty red herring over the precise definition of socialism.

Daughter is a bit upset with her team in her chemistry lab. Herself and another young lady are in the nursing program and are taking it seriously (also, my daughter has a scholarship).  The two other members are very indifferent, and one has been reprimanded (twice) for plagiarism.. my guess is AI.

Daughter is talking to the TA to try to branch off, as it appears the route to a good grade is for the two nursing students to just do the work themselves.

They are about to escalate the situation, but very frustrating.
