What does the media do now and when does it start?

Recommended Posts

When Trump won in 2016, the Democrat run media went on a rampage, doing everything in their power to make sure he didn't win a second term.   They were mostly successful(Covid helped of course).

Then, after 2020, they continued the barrage...fearful that the Trump support out there wasn't dying and knowing the Democrat policies and candidates were weak.  In the 2024 election, the Democrat run media got worse than anything I have seen trying to discredit Trump, to influence independent voters with lies.  Liz Cheney, the I will protect women whether they want me to or not thing and so on.

However.....This time they weren't able to stop what happened.  So now what do they do?  Right now they are suffering from a bit of an election hangover, still fairly shocked this happened.  So yeah, they will criticize every cabinet pick and spin interviews in a negative way for Trump.   But this can't last.  He can't run again.  So they need a new target.  Keeping in mind the Democrat run media does not and cannot spend time talking about their positive positions.  They currently have none.  That's why abortion is their #1 item.  So they will attack---this is what they do.   Question is who will they turn their sights on and when?  Of course Trump will still get his, but this will be ineffective in 2028.   My guess will be the republican party in general.  And best timing is shortly after the inauguration.  It will be interesting to watch them pivot and see the timing of it.

The media will fairly call balls and strikes and treat Mr. Trump with the dignity and respect that the office deserves.

They'll continue the same thing they've done, they'll just make sure to include anyone who's aligned with him (politically primarily), so that they can continue the trend with the person next in line.  A phrase I've read on this board, and even heard on YouTube from Democrats is that, "I'd vote Republican if they could come up with a good choice".  The thing is, they're either lying or just stupid.  They're lying because they basically mean, "I'll vote for a Republican if he promotes Democrat policies" or they're just stupid because they don't realize that every Republican candidate will be treated with disdain from the national media, and they'll believe it every time.

As proof, Vance has come across as a very likeable straight shooting guy.  He's constantly calling out bs from the media and they change course when he does.  The ONLY reasons to not like him (from a Democrat point of view), are because you don't agree with his platform (so you won't vote for him even though he's a good choice, because he's not a Democrat), or you believe the MSM bull crap that has or will be, flung in his direction (meaning you're too stupid to realize the media is lying to you).

Trump will say something absurd or vague like his recent comments on mass deportation. Some media will ask more questions and he will get outraged and spaz out, his fanboys will defend whatever is said, pick some aspect of the issue as a hill to die on and it will become a spectacle for a few days.

Then something else will happen and the process will repeat.

Pretty much what happened the first time.

The last election cycle severely damaged the mainstream medias credibility. They got stuck in an echo chamber of hate for Trump and convinced not only themselves but everyone else that Harris was going to win. I am not sure they have the power to really do anything at this point.

Imagine still thinking that the MSM isn't helping Trump at this point in a roundabout way...

They know the chaos sells so they normalize him as much as possible as a means of keeping him in the news. Even when he wasn't President they kept dutifully running stories on everything he was saying keeping his name out there. When Biden and Trump debated they both had bad performances for very different reasons, They chose to go in on Biden ignoring the insane things Trump was saying.

No publicity is bad publicity effect

Thing is...If you don't wanna vote for JD(if he runs) because you disagree with his policies, I am 100% on board with that.   But what I see happening from our beloved Democrat run media machine is they will attack him.  Full on.  Again, because they can't prop up their policies, because they don't have a strong platform and the entirety of their candidate base is weak.   But that's part of what I am wondering.  Will the media attack JD directly?  Or go more for the republican party in general?  I suppose that will become more clear once the 2028 republican candidates start to pop up.

We had this discussion recently; IMO you are both correct.  Whoever runs for the Reps will be labeled as worse than Trump.  More specifically, worse than Trump because of the same bad policies but they are more effective speakers/leaders, so they can get more of their dangerous fascist blah blah blah done!  We already saw this with DeSantis when he seemed to be the front runner a few years back.

If only we could look forward to 4 years of the clarity that is a Kamala Harris response.

At the risk of sidetracking, I wonder what she is doing these days. I bet her computer solitaire game is killer.

Yes if someone doesn't agree with their policies, then by all means, they should be voting for who they believe does.  I just want to stop hearing the b.s. line of "I'd vote Republican if they could come up with a good choice", when they really mean, "I'd vote for a Republican if he were a Democrat".

Whatabout Kamala!

To your second paragraph she has the decency to go away. Unlike when Trump lost and proceeded to pitch a months long fit how he was robbed, the election was rigged, and got a bunch of inbreds to storm the Capitol.

The media is in a bind. How do you fairly cover the kind of 78 year old man who mines giving blowjobs and all caps rage tweets at 2 AM? That ain’t normal.

I already responded to the topic before this one.

Also, doesn't she have a job?  Wasn't she elected to help run the US, especially since she should have 25th'd Biden years ago?

Yeah. She’s the VP. You typically don’t hear from the VP in December. Trump had a job too, he choose to spend his last 2 months running Rudy Giuliani out to Four Seasons Landscaping for press conferences and fired his AG for not buying into his pity party fever dreams among a bunch of other pathetic crap 😂

I responded as well to this topic. It’s a stone cold lock - Trump will whine and cry. The media will react to all his strange behavior and amplify it for ratings to sell ads. It’s the perfect loop.

If the media was smart, they would cut the umbilical cord from the deep state and start reporting news honestly and from an independant perspective.   But that will never happen.

It should be embarrassing that some guy with a podcast can report real news exposing corruption inside the government-corporate swamp but the media won't.

As we’ve seen from 2020-2024, when one side wins the other side calmly accepts those results with maturity, dignity and class.

It’s absolutely relevant to the topic and it demonstrates your disconnect on this subject. When the media reports on an outside event like Syria or the death of the insurance CEO, you’re fine as taking them as credible. But when they report on a political subject in a way you dislike you reject them. Which proves the point that, for all their faults (and there are plenty) the problem here is not the media; it’s YOU. Conservatives in recent years have come to reject the mainstream media, only in specific instances, not because the media is inaccurate but because reality is too often in conflict with conservative ideology.

It is not a matter of "when they report on a political subject in a way you dislike", the media always reports on a political story in a way I find repulsively bias and extremely misleading.   I do not even trust how they report on Syria or Ukraine.  The reporting has become so politically bias towards the big-goverment-corporate state it is worthless to watch outside of maybe the weather, but even in the weather they will occassionally push some bogus global warming propaganda on it.

Nope.   Wrong again.   The subject of this topic was political coverage and how the MSM will pivot.   You brought up something utterly not related.

Trump! Trump!  Trump!

Russia!  Russia!  Russia!

You don't even make effing sense.   Make an effing arguement.  Instead you just spew whatever nonsense MSNBC tells you.
