I have to go to Detroit a week from Saturday for a memorial service.  Looks like 20s and 30s.  Why do people live in that?  Don't you know you can move to nice weather?

I can drive a few hours north to Flagstaff, even less to Sedona/Cottonwood/Jerome, or a few hours east to Pinetop/Greer, and experience winter if I want.

Right. But for me, it's not about visiting the weather, it's about living it. Meh, it's only a preference is all. I like northern weather spring during Easter, summer during Fourth of July, Halloween in the fall, and Christmas in the winter.

Here in Minnesota, we used to say that the cold winter weather kept the riffraff away. That didn't work out.

The Democratic Party in the state was so generous with freebies/benefits for the imports (somali/hmong) even they couldn't stay away because of the brutal winters.

They re currently forecasting 9-15" of snow in our area between saturday night through sunday.  Grocery store gonna be hoppin' later.

<Some idiots wanted to host league volleyball tournament this weekend where we had to drive an hour.   Thought for sure they would cancel.   Nope, took a good couple hours to get home from a normal hour drive.   Interstate traffic was at a standstill (still is, we've been home for a bit) as luckily I knew the right back roads and cuts through small towns to get back home.   Some of the roads were slick as fock.

 

Money over people's safety.  Sure the forecast isn't always right but this should not have happened.  I think some of our coaches are still stuck and I don't feel terrible for them. 

 

Apparently there was a 200 car pile up in kc south of where I am, and just heard a report that water search and rescue are looking for a car that went off a bridge and possibly into the Missouri River.   And most don't realize the size and speed of that river but it's second only to the Mississippi in this country.   I can't imagine they'll get to those folks in time to save them if they really went off the bridge

In hindsight, this is correct.   We had another girl spend the night with us and my daughter would have been upset if we didn't go and it didn't turn out to be as bad as forecasted.  But now we'll know. 

I went the wrong way down an interstate on-ramp following others to cut through a couple small towns up get back on the interstate past the accident.   It was treacherous.
