NFL Wild Card Weekend Games

I drafted Love and Daniels. I picked up Mayfield, later traded Mayfield, later picked up Nix.

Short answer is Daniels, as he started 10 of my 15 games.

You had Daniels, Saquon and Henry and somehow didn’t make the playoffs? That’s crazy.

Jesus. Did you have a team like mine, which led the league in scoring but still somehow managed to go .500 and miss them?

I've been that guy, and it sucks.

It gets worse. 12 team league and 6(!!!!) teams make the playoffs. I was highest scoring team from week 3 on. Lost 5 of my last 7, with 4 straight to end the year.

It has only happened to one other person in our league, which is 28 years old. This is the third time it's happened to me. It's now called pulling a {fnord} except, yaknow, my real name. Without mathing it out, I have to think that those multiple finishes are a statistical anomaly of the highest order.

What the fock did you do to piss off the Fantasy Gods so badly?   You might want to try burning some sage and sacrificing a pigeon before next season.

It is so statistically unlikely that it clearly is not random chance.  Clearly fate hates you.  Keep your head down and maybe Fate will turn her attention, her anger, elsewhere.

I don't focking know. I won titles in 16, 18, and 21. Guys in the league joke that this is the universe resetting to normal.

I am intrigued by this idea of burning and sacrificing to change my luck. I think I will start by burning some ganja and sacrificing a bit more of my admittedly diminished cognitive abilities.

Tell me about it....I usually ended up starting the wrong guys at the other positions. I think I had the biggest differential between optimal points and actual points in my league. :(

I drafted Love and Murray and picked up Darnold like week 4.  Traded Darnold like week 8 :wall:

I don't think he would've scored on that play. I think he would've been run down from behind.

Unless it was a certain yardage that you needed....

I needed a score. I think he had too much built up speed flying untouched thru the line to get caught, unless someone had an angle I missed.

Happened in my main league a few years back  we made a rule that high scorer is guaranteed 6th place.

We're also discussing adding victory points (?) Where you get a win if you are top 6 scoring every week, along with H2H.

Bier just take the loss, Yes we all feel with Harbaugh & Shades his future is looking brighter but dude hasn't prove nothing about the hype he had and still gets. He is the Mike Tomlin of QB's.

re: herbert-

the guy has top tier talent. people are quick to label or dismiss without examining environment/circumstances.  he came in to lynn and had staley (very high risk). I think campbell is already taking fewer risk, learning from last year's nfcc game.

numbers are good for JH. i knew that generally the team would be better and he would likley produce less for FF, but be a better nfl qb....he did= 3 ints is pretty excellent.

he went against a defense minded team and did not have much else beyond a very good rookie wr.

they will improve.

Your league sounds like it has superior administration to mine. Which is not surprising when the roles of co-commissioners go to the top 2 finishers the year before because nobody wants anything to do with being the commish. Damn near the whole league has commissioner access by now, LOL.

Any team playing the Vikings in the postseason has, by definition, a decent chance of winning. But I like the Vikes tonight.

Do you have a preference as far as which team you'd rather see against da Iggles?

Yeah, we are lucky. League started 30+ years ago, same commissioner throughout. All friends or friends of friends for (rare) replacement owners, and we're pretty much (if not completely) all engineers, so not much drama.

Occasional drama tho.  Commish put down the hammer this year that there will be no exceptions to our rules (which are quite extensive, because we are engineers) :D

Rams by far. The Eagles kicked the shiit out of them this year.

This made me laugh. If we had a league constitution it would be scribbled indecipherably on a bar napkin soaked in cheap beer and Jack Daniels. We regularly vote on rule changes, but enforcement is subject only to what we can remember voting in. The draft is a weekend long sousing with other intoxicants regularly mixed in, so as you can imagine, no one ever remembers vote results from the year(s) before.

We have discussed discontinuing the league in favor of a yearly party. FF is just the excuse to get together nowadays. We have not scrapped the league because it has been around longer than the wives, who have only given their conditional blessings for members' continued attendance due to the historical nature of draft weekend.

Sounds like elk camp and opening day of fishing.  Each year we get together to hunt.  Back in the day it was in Wisconsin for white tail.  Now it is in Colorado for elk.  Each year we also get het boys together foropening day of fishing in Wisconsin.  Now some hunting and some fishing does ccur, for certain, but the majority of the tiem is spent playing poker and getting inebriated.  (We do have strict rules about handling weapons when inebriated).  Basicly twice a year we have an excuse to get the boys together and the wives don't question it as hunting and fishing are part of our heritage.  We did this with our grandparents and uncles when we were young and who are they to interfer with this family tradition.

If you go to espn app and nfl scores then divisional round they have  Texans/ chiefs along with the Lions game on Saturday and the bills/ Ravens on Sunday.

Makes sense to give the 1 seeds the extra day of rest heading into the championship games.

No, I'm not betting on the Texans this time.

yes. easily.

not saying they will, this game and the bucs/skins was the hardest to predict. But they already beat the Vikings in week 7? and their best offensive weapons are all healthy. The young defense has been playing much better lately, as well.  I'm happy for Darnold but I tend to give him less credit for the Vikings 3 loss season than a lot of people do. I could see McCarthy having done similar. I still think there is a decent amount of Jets Sam Darnold in there, he just gets to throw to Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, TJ Hockenson and has Aaron Jones in the backfield. :dunno:

I don't care who wins but my lean is Rams.

I hope you’re right - I think they’d be an easier out for Philly next week.

we could have went to the game.  I paid $480 for 4 seats and parking pass (section 303 row 25 about halfway up around the visitor's 30).  I sold the seats on stubhub for $784.80 and got $45 for the parking pass.  If you would have came up and left the cats at home I would have split the cost with you and done up something right for us to tailgate. :headbanger: :dunno:

Chiefs are about to win the Super Bowl.  KU gonna win the basketball national championship.  Royals are going to win the World Series.  And KU football going to win the Big 12 this year.  I don't see the issue.

Stafford hasnt played well in a month. I wouldn’t say the Vikings D is a get right spot.  But McVay is a hell of a coach.

Meh, I'm not that into Texans football. I climb on the bandwagon when they get into the playoffs. They're my favorite NFL team, though.

Coming to Kansas City, drinking beers and eating brisket and burnt ends I smoked for a solid 12+ hours the day before for three hours prior to the game with about 50k of your new best friends will make you think completely different about the entire NFL experience ;)

Oh, I don't doubt that. The Chiefs are my second favorite team thanks to that and Mahomes being from here. I started following him at the high-school level and am Facebook friends with his dad and stepmother.

I can't stand the Cowboys, and a lot of that has to do with their obnoxious fans, who either whine or brag nonstop about whatever the Cowboys are doing. Such drama. Fock that;
