TimHauck 2,873 Posted July 13 Serious question. I know there are some individual reporters that are, and I’ve also found the Breaking Points podcast to IMO be the best source for balanced coverage, but I don’t think they do anything in writing (except for Ryan Grim’s side project which is lefty). Typically, I try to find the primary sources discussed by the media site talking about a story, since the MSM will often add interpretations that contradict the actual sources (people like @RLLD and @Strike have fallen for this for example), but that’s not always easy to do. Overall what I’ve found is that the left-leaning sites will usually at least report on most stories, but will put their leftist spin on it. On the other hand, I’ve found that Fox News and NY Post will often (not always of course) just flat out ignore many stories that might make Republicans look bad, such as a lot of the instances of people being detained by ICE/refused re-entry to the US for questionable reasons, Not great, especially when many on the right will only look at their preferred sources and flat out dismiss anything coming from a lefty site without reading it. Of course there are more lefty sites in total, so there are likely some of them that will do similar, but maybe you’ll just have to find it on a different site. So yeah, as a centrist I would love recommendations for sources of unbiased news. Go!
Ron_Artest 1,524 Posted July 13 From my research PBS is the most balanced. I think AP and Reuters are also pretty fair. There are sites that rate the bias, this one is my favorite: Static Media Bias Chart | Ad Fontes Media https://share.google/eHq3lwOUoMXdIQ4to The important thing to remember is that bias exists in all of us, conscious or unconscious. This is why it's important to get different sources, different opinions and fact check everything. 1

RLLD 4,230 Posted July 13 Most of the folks here, notable and especially @TimHauck lack the self-perception to understand when they are being lied to or not; which is why they constantly fall for political lies, only to later be exposed for how easily they are manipulated as those lies are eventually exposed. Only through careful consumption of a variety of sources, with a sensitive BS meter, can one even begin to make accurate calls....as i have....for years...
Voltaire 5,316 Posted July 13 Generally, left or right, the facts are real and not made up wholecloth. From what I've seen of the guy with the worst reputation, the first three steps down any Alex Jones rabbithole are all based on reliable facts. It's how they get interpreted and presented (or ignored) that people need to be aware of. Journalists use to be expected to keep their opinions out of a news piece, but that no longer happens except with a few of the 50+ y/o ones.

We know your game punk, it wont work anymore.

MDC 7,425 Posted July 13 This is the GC. Any source that doesn’t confirm your bias is “biased.” The MSM is Fake Newz but some rando’s post on X is the gospel truth. You’ll figure it out eventually.

thegeneral 3,214 Posted July 13 Most of the mainstream news is decent, you just have to take it with a grain of salt and consider if it is the outlet’s commentary/opinion stuff. Then read a bit of the counterpoints on the subject. Also sometimes things are just going to be wrong as the story plays out over time.

MAGAs can't accept this because they think Breitbart, Fox and Newsmax are unbiased and facts-based, which they most certainly are not. Sadly, AP and Reuters are shells of their former selves thanks to newspapers' slow death.
