What's up with all these Interstellar objects in our Solar System

Recommended Posts

So the 3rd one is making it's loop through our solar system in a few years span. Are these from some planet that was destroyed? If so considering how far our solar system has traveled through space, that's a pretty large debris field. Or are they just common throughout space. That seems to be a problem for even sub light speed travel.

Theres lots of debris in space.   But space is so huge it just doesn't seem to be much to worry about though.   Interesting about light speed(or close to it)...I wonder if a decent sized ship, traveling at that rate of speed, would break up hitting something like that or would it have enough force and momentum that the object just exploded instantly from the impact.   Unknown but interesting to consider.

It's likely that interstellar objects pass through our solar system every few years or so, but only in the last decade or two have we been able to detect them with our instruments.

Ok rusty. You can take a seat now.

So we've only been able to detect objects since, hmmm, 2005, Oh OK

Apologies, forgot the audience.

Over time, we've been building more and more sophisticated instruments since the telescope was first invented. With the advent of Hubble and the James Webb Space Telescope, along with other recent generations of telescopes, we've been able to detect more and more objects, including those that may have been too faint to detect previously.

So yes, we've been able to detect these types of objects more recently because we've developed more sophisticated telescopes. Sheesh.

This is the answer. We are better at seeing and identify these things with improved technology and more interest in past decade.

Or it’s aliens and we are focked.
