Steak: To Sauce Or Not

Steak: To Sauce Or Not

  1. 1. Does sauce belong on steak?

    • Hells no! A properly cooked steak with a little seasoning such as salt and pepper don't need no sauce!
    • Steak without sauce is like a day without sunshine! Sauce it up, b!tches!

Meglamaniac and I have differing opinions regarding sauce on steak.

Let's settle this man to man with this pole ... I mean poll.

options are too extreme.

prefer it with bordelaise or bearnaise (sometimes some others).

at minimum, a beurre monte or compound butter

To sauce or not to sauce. That is the question.

You're obviously a saucer, so vote accordingly.

I’m a sauce guy but not every steak & everytime . Dining at the Capital Grille , no sauce. Cooking at home it’s depending on the cut, ribeye-no the rest probably yes. I love a creamy horseradish to dip in or traditional like A1

I had a $59.99 bone in ribeye the other day at a restaurant and was served with a nice chimichurri dipping sauce on the side. Does not make me a “saucer”.

First of all, filet is the only steak I cook or order.  It can be nice with a little bernaise, but that’s it.  If it needs sauce, you probably shouldn’t eat it.

I never use sauce with my steak but I always have mushrooms or some side with it.  I do enjoy a good sauce with my steak occasionally though.  I see no problem with using sauce.

Nope, nope, nope

I merely pointed out that making the statement

Real men don't put brandy peppercorn sauce on a filet mignon.

Is ignorant and that one of the best steak houses in NY does it

I actually prefer my steak done in a screaming hot CIS, seasononed with fresh ground gray sea salt, peppercord and dried shallots cook in garlic butter with sprigs of rosemarry

So this poll is flawed for the get go

I like Bearnaise sauce and also Marsala sauce. If those aren't options then no sauce. When I cook them at home I do it in butter and Worcestershire sauce.

When you see it on a menu it's always optional and as little/as much as you want. Good steak houses have a menu of optional sauces.  Rusty is too poor to know that.

Go to Ruth Christ get a well done filet with A-1 @Sandy Loam.  See how they look at you.

Yes, Ruth's Chris Steak House offers steak sauce options. They provide both Béarnaise and Hollandaise sauces, which are classic steak complements. Additionally, they serve their steaks with a finishing touch of butter and sometimes offer other enhancements like sautéed sweet onions or bleu cheese crust.

Anyone else find it foking hilarious that this retard says the only way to eat steak is with salt and PEPPER and the goes on to lose his chit over a PEPPERCORN sauce?

Who is going to tell him?

🤣

Totally depends on the cut and home vs. restaurant. A-1 or Worcestershire with London broil is fine. NY strips don’t need anything but salt and pepper. Neither does filet mignon, but I’ve had a really good peppercorn Alice at some restaurants. 🥩

So I never realized steak tips weren’t a thing nationwide. Can’t get them here in Florida. You can get  them just marinated or marinated then sauced . Great on a salad or regular entree . One of my favorite things to throw on a gas or charcoal grill.

I was going to say that Ruth’s Chris probably isn’t the best example here since they drown theirs in butter.

But good steaks do not need sauce.  In terms of chains, the best I’ve found is Steak48.  A little overpriced though.

Yes, Steak 48 offers several sauce options to complement their steaks. These include classic choices like drawn butter and atomic horseradish, as well as house-made cocktail sauce and creamy mustard, according to the restaurant's website.

This is getting more and more retarded fast.

How about this.  Name me one high end steakhouse that doesn’t have sauce options.

And it isn't a matter of "need".  That's just dumb. It screams - I've eaten a lot of grocery store meat in my lifetime! 🤣

I only get filets with the occasional sirloin. I don't get ribeyes due to how fatty they are. I guess some people like the fat.

Just because they offer sauces doesn’t mean that’s the best way to eat it.

The ribeye is the most flavorful mainstream steak. After that I’ll take a nice strip , had a filet at a restaurant last weekend , came topped with a high end blue cheese and balsamic drizzle. Delicious, forgot how a filet melts in your mouth but not something I choose often

I almost never have sauce with steak, but it's not like the taste of a well season, well cooked steak is so great that a nice sauce wouldn't be good.  🤷‍♂️

Now if it's some marbled wagyu, and I mean real wagyu... like the $100 an ounce or whatever it is that melts in your mouth when you eat it and not the fake waygu branded trash.  And I mean literally melts in your mouth.  Like the marbled fat of the steak hits your mouth and dissolves complimenting the steak.  I would say sauce would ruin that experience.  But even at a good steak place, the taste isn't so great that I would shake my head if someone dabbed it in some sauce.

But this debate is pretty old and it really boils down to "you're not manly if you don't do blah blah blah." Who gives a shìt how people eat their steak?

You're a foking caveman.

When cooked properly most of the fat renders.  Prime meat gets its higher grade primarily because of its higher marbeling (fat content).

My favorite cut is a plate of short ribs that I cut down myself. Huge fat content, but, after smoked correctly for 4 or 5 hours every bit of the fat renders and it melts in your mouth.  And gasp, crushed black pepper and red Hawaiian sea salt crust is the only thing it gets.

Ruth Chris is the Walmart of steakhouses.

Fat=flavor.

I never order filet as it's pretty bland.

I was just about to say. Having eaten at some of the best steakhouses in the world, anyone that pays 60- 70 dollars for a steak is an idiot
