Some "therapist" probably told her that if she didn't IT would commit suicide.

The kid was 17.  Could have done it themselves 5 months later

I’m more interested recent history . Say 2020 or 2021 to today

Well, there were probably a couple thousand mass shootings and there would have still only been about 5 transgender shooters.  Very low percentage.

Less than that.  Some of the ones that often get cited in the memes are from 2018 & 2019.

Let's be real - If we made it illegal for anyone who identifies as the opposite gender as their biological sex to come anywhere near a gun we'd have at least 50 people still alive just in the last five years and a bunch less of these school/church shootings.  But Tim would never go for that, nor should he.   But ban guns.  Hell yeah, top of Tim's list.

Can you clarify your math here please?

This shooting: 2 victims + shooter

Covenant school: 6 victims + shooter

What others?  And if you say Colorado Springs you are not a serious poster.

Bump.  I’ll give you the Iowa one, but even that wasn’t confirmed that I saw.  That’s another 2 victims + shooter which puts you at 13.  Still only about 1/4 of the way to 50.

Bump

Now we get the same stupid argument from the gun Neanderthals that we just need to have people stationed at every church, every school…even foxes, trying to argue that there are plenty of police and military we could vet that would volunteer for this job. The fock there is.

It’s such stupid logic. It makes my head hurt.

You must still believe on the tooth fairy with your stupid idea on how to eliminate guns.

Sounds like the shooter may have been trans AND anti-Jew, Muslim, Black, Hispanic, and LGBTQ!

The weapons also included an array of hateful references and messages targeting Christians, Jews, Black people, LGBTQ+ individuals, Muslims, Hispanics, and others, such as “kick a spic,” “Burn Israel,” and “6 million wasn’t enough,” an antisemitic phrase lamenting that only six million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust. In one video, the shooter also showed off a smoke bomb that had “Extra Thicc! [sic] Jew Gas” written on it in silver marker.

:shocking:

Edit: Anti-Catholic too. Thanks @HellToupee!

Good morning. What can we do as a society to make what happened yesterday less likely? Here is what I think:

1. All gun restrictions need to be federal. As @TheNewGirl pointed out yesterday, it’s useless for a state or city to have them. Doesn’t work.

2. We need universal background checks. No exceptions for private sales.

3. If this doesn’t work then I would take it further. Anyone who wants to legally own a gun should have to take some sort of mental wellness test. It would include an interview with a therapist trained to detect serious mental illness. The proposed purchaser would pay for the price of this interview.

Are you willing to define Transgenderism as a mental illness?

I don’t think we should define transgenderism as a mental illness either, but without that it’s possible none of this would have stopped Westman from purchasing the guns.

You don’t think an interview with a mental health expert would have offered enough red flags to prevent a purchase?

Not necessarily.  The only indication I’ve seen of any possible mental health issues was accusations that Westman made “disturbing” comments at work.  But 2 neighbors that worked in the mental health field said they didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary for example:

It absolutely is considered a mental illness and this is why you're #3 option above wouldn't work regarding "mental illness" tests.  The left is going to weaponize it to either classify everyone who applies for a gun as "mentally ill" or they will let themselves and their pet causes NOT be defined as "mentally ill".

It's as clear as the day is long that trannies are mentally ill and as long as the left doesn't consider that, then "mental illness" tests are dead in the water.

You can't trust leftists.

“Didn’t look any different than any other strange person”. Another dope that doesn’t read his own links.  Why are you always in such a hurry? It’s not like you have to get back to work.

Looking strange means they have a mental illness?

Talking to somebody causally, and giving them an interview designed to detect mental illness are two different animals. What I’m suggesting wouldn’t be infallible by any means but I think it would help.

Let’s move beyond the tranny/mental illness debate. Surely you would agree that there was something mentally wrong with this dude beyond being a tranny (otherwise all trannies would be violent mass murderers and we know that’s not the case.) I think a mental examination might spot warning signs. As I wrote it wouldn’t be perfect and probably some people would get through the cracks. Others would simply purchase guns illegally. We can’t stop them all. But I think we should try to make it more difficult.

I think you’re on to something.  Trans people are 4-6 times more likely to have other psychological issues.   But, lo and behold, the feeling of being trapped in a perfectly functioning anatomical body that happens to be the wrong sex,  isn’t one of those mental illnesses.

How about we just make it illegal to do so? Why do you consistently support politicians who oppose this idea?

If you can show me statistical evidence that transgender people are more violent than the general population, by percentage, then I would be open to such restrictions. Until then I’m not. Banning guns is not at the top of my list.

I see we're following the progressive algorithm here:

If [shooter is on the intersectionality scale]
   Then "More gunz laws!"
   Else "White supremacist!"
Endif

In relation to my call for public shaming of the seller. Legal or not. I assumed it was legal.
