US Federal Government Shutdown Thread

Recommended Posts

Bessent has said several times now "No king no paycheck"

Not sure this is going to go over well with the public.  If you want the govt to reopen, Trump needs to be the king.

Exactly, as if berating a Capitol Police officer is the same as bashing them with a club, flagpole, fire extinguisher or using bear spray.

I dont get the joke.

Are democrats allowed to piss all over the rule of law every day for the rest of eternity because they have low IQs and then democrats lied about what happened while they locked up heroes that were peacefully protessting on January 6th at the super peaceful protests that democrat police officers wrongfully attacked. And this isnt hypocritical because democrats are big dummyheads and anybody that thinks this is hypocritical likes goats, like, more than a friend.

Maybe Mike Johnson was out of the country, or has serious memory issues.

It’s funny that you call one “pissing all over the rule of law” and the other “behaving poorly”

And then there were the ones that didn't yell at cops and just walked through the building. What happened to them?

The trespassers were charged with trespassing, as they should be.

Trump just doubled the Argentina bailout to $40B.  Americans could use that money.

Yes! Trump convinced idiot democrats to finally be against all the dumb foreign aid spending! Trump is teaching old dogs new tricks. Even ron, and that guy is dumber than a box of rocks.

Mike Johnson comes off completely ineffective as speaker of the house.

I don't think McCarthy would be in this mess.

The House could pass a bill right now extending the ACA benefits. Then the Senate would pass it and the shutdown would be over.

The House has been closed down for a month. He also keeps telling them to stay home. He- much like Thune- are more concerned about being on Trump's good side than doing anything effective.

No.  The house passed a bill.  It's up to the Senate now.

A shutdown falls on the president's lack of leadership. I mean the top, and they have to get solved from the top. A shutdown means the President is weak

It’s actually your responses that are pathetic. The House passed a bill that they knew beforehand would be unacceptable to the Senate. It was a pointless gesture. If the House wants to end the shutdown they need to go back in session and pass a new bill which would be acceptable to the Senate- one which extends the ACA benefits. They could do it  in a few hours time. They won’t. In addition, Mike Johnson won’t bring the House into session because that would immediately lead to a vote on the Epstein discharge bill which apparently will be highly embarrassing for Donald Trump.

This whole thing is on the Republicans and most of the public knows this:

CR's are not pointless gestures.  They're passed all the time, including just about 6 months ago.  Schumer is scared of AOC.  That's the only reason the government is shut down.  And that's on the Dems, and they're losing this battle.

And the House could be working on a new plan that might pass if they were in session. You are pathetic and it's silly you later say it is AOC holding everything up because they are scared of her.
