Death Pool Update: Ace Frehley at 74...

Ace Frehley, the original lead guitarist for KISS, is dead ... TMZ has confirmed.

The legendary musician died Thursday after being hospitalized, and placed on life support ... with the family coming to the difficult decision to turn off his ventilator.

We broke the story ... Ace suffered a brain bleed after taking a nasty fall in studio a couple of weeks ago.

Ace was a founding member of KISS ... joining forces with Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley and Peter Criss. He shredded guitar with the band from 1973 to 1982 ... but left the group amid substance abuse issues and creative differences.

He tried his hand at a solo career ... founding the band Frehley's Comet -- a play on "Spaceman," his KISS handle. The group played together from 1984 to 1988 then broke up ... and Ace later rejoined KISS for its 1996 reunion tour and remained with them until 2002.

Ace helped KISS create a ton of hits ... including "Detroit Rock City," "I Was Made for Lovin' You," and "Rock and Roll All Nite."

His solo career might best be remembered for his covers of the songs "Back in the New York Groove" and "Into the Night." In 2014, Ace and the rest of his KISS brothers were inducted into the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame.

He's the first original member of KISS to die.

Ace was 74.

RIP

Almost went to see Ace last winter. He was playing at a small place about a mile from where I live. A missed opportunity

RIP Ace. Never a huge fan of the music, but they were innovators in the industry.

Didnt someone here have a story about being his driver or whatever for the day?

My favorite song of his off his 1978 solo album, which was a cover of the UK Glam Rock band Hello, first done in 1975.

RIP Ace

In the last few months I've recollected many KISS albums, including all 4 of the solo albums. When I was into them in the 70's / 80's I couldn't afford all 3 of the solo lp's. Ace's is clearly the best one imo. I only saw them once, shortly after KISS "Alive" came out in '76,

My cousin painted me up as Peter Chris when I was around 7 and he did a good job before we went Trick or Treating.

We did the same @ New Years Eve in '76 and terrorized the neighborhood.

Never was a fan whatsoever but I’ll give Ace props for being a good musician. Too bad he joined forces with two of the biggest egotistical POS Jews in Rock. Fock them both.

RIP Ace

RIP Ace. My first albums, Kiss Destroyer and Alive II for Xmas 1981.

Nice. I was part of the Kiss Army in the seventies. Early stuff like Strutter. I got to see them in the late 70s. They knew how to put on a show. RIP Ace.

I was a big Kiss fan when I was young. Love Gun was the first album I bought for myself. I saw them in concert once, in January 1983, but Ace had already left the band. Too bad, I always liked Ace. RIP
