Todd McShay says Dante Moore’s agents should call the Raiders to see if he can go No. 1. If not, he advises Moore to return to school rather than risk being drafted by the Jets. “I promise you no single player in this draft wants to be a New York Jet.”

Never understood the Carroll hire.  Oh hes going to bring some stabilization to that organization!  Why?  Because hes old and used to have some success?  Why would you want to grind to 7 wins anyway?  That hire made absolutely no sense and some people ate it up as if thr Raiders would be decent this year.  It could have just been a placeholder tank move if they felt they couldnt land a coach they really wanted to work with for a few years.  Which would make some sense.

I think a lot of franchises and their fan bases who experience prolonged failure and have a recent history of failing with very green coaches welcome the idea of a head coach with experience and past success, even if it's not quite a great fit. I suspect someone will do it with Belicheat at some point even though he's now become a side show.

As a suffering Jets fan, I said many times I wanted them to bring Rex Ryan back. The last thing I really wanted was another first time head coach / first time GM combo especially considering Glenn didn't really do anything great with his own defense in Detroit.

Also when you have bad ownership, it's more attractive to get an older, experienced coach (and GM) who you hope will have the balls to stand up to the owner if and when they try to get their way.

More retreads. I would be SHOCKED if Josh McDaniels gets another sniff. With how many retarded owners the NFL has, it is possible.

Good. Whatever keeps the owners away from looking towards Brian Flores is good in my book. He's radioactive! Toxic! Not head coaching material! No need to turn your eyes north!

Agree 100%. The guys like playing for him it seems, but they are ill-prepared, are horrible at making adjustments, and sucks in-game..just managing the game itself.

Ownership is cheap and loves campbell so he isnt going anywhere unfortunatelt.

I wouldnt hate raheem morris as a DC.

I get that.  Not even railing on Dan that bad.  Im sure, like Buffalo, they are happy for the turnaround.  But as good as Lions were for a couple years, as good as Packers and Bills have been for several years....those 3 teams have zero SB appearances under those guys.  Yet here is Taylor making a SB and losing an AFCG by 3 the following year.  While his QB gets injured all the time and all of their money is tied up in thr QB and 2 WRs.

Did Burrow not bang table to get Tee Higgins a deal?  He needed two #1 WRs.  When you have the T2 highest paid QB by yearly average, the highest paid WR by a bit of a margin (5 mill per year more than 2nd by average) and then make Tee Higgins the 11th highest paid WR.....what exactly do you think the rest of your team is going to look like?

Yup. Dumb. Crossing sports, but Conor McDavid begged for the Oilers to sign Trent Frederic. Never listen to the players

it's a sad situation.  When a downtrodden franchise like the Raiders is preferable because they are in Vegas as opposed to being a stones throw away from NYC, you've got serious issues.

i could see Ty Simpson being the best pro anyway. I'm not sure it's in Moore's best interest to stay in school and enter with a stronger QB class.

You mean Bills shouldnt have listened to Josh Allen when he scouted WRs with the front office and liked Keon Coleman's game?  Lol

Whenever the Raiders hire their next coach, they will be paying 5 different coaches after firing Pete Carroll:

Antonio Pierce: $8 million

Josh McDaniels: $10 million

Jon Gruden: $10 million

Pete Carroll: $16 million

Future coach:

Plus: Chip Kelly: $6 million

someone said in a group chat last night that they wanted the Jets to fire Glenn and hire Tomlin if the Steelers parted ways. My initial reaction was to say that Tomlin is overrated and kind of a DEI Rex Ryan in the sense that he had early success and then a bunch of .500 ball or 9 win seasons just sneaking into the playoffs.

I really wasn't being fair to him. He has a career winning % over .600,  has 7 seasons with 11 or more victories, has never had a losing season in 19 years,..  I'd sign up in a heartbeat.

Tomlin is excellent. The most successful years of his career were when he had a HOF QB. There aren't many successful HC's without good QBs under center and Tomlin has put together winning seasons with a hodgepodge of JAGs since Roethlisberger left.

He won a SB with Flacco.  Sure it isnt a Lamar Jackson issue?

oddly, it feels like Ben left a decade ago but he retired in 2022. It's really only been 4 seasons since they had QB stability.

The only 2 coaches in NFL history with more head to head games than Harbaugh-Tomlin are Curly Lambeau and George Halas. Those two are a huge reason the Steelers-Ravens rivalry is arguably the best in the league consistently. I don't think either organization is going to fire them, especially Pittsburgh.

Wow, it does seem longer. Probably because he was washed for at least his last season, if not the last 2-3.

I mean he did throw for 33 TDs and 10 INTs in 2020 with a completion % above his career average... they won 12 games :dunno:

I sort of think the opposite if I had to choose.  Id say Tomlin more likely to go.

-BUT, they snuck in to playoffs so maybe that means something to someone.

The Steelers sort of need to reset for once.  Their defense is old.  After Rodgers they dont have a QB lined up.  They have limited weapons on offense in place.  Tomlin is good enough, but to reset a roster they may have to change the coach as well...also if they do he may not want to coach through a rebuild anyway.  But Steelers dont ever try to rebuild so its a moot point.

Ravens have to figure out the QB stuff.  Havent followed it a ton but seems like the Lamar relationship is sort of getting muddy.  His level of play drops a ton at end of year and in playoffs.  Hes routinely banged up.  Its hard to get rid of a still fairly young franchise QB.  But they havent won with him even at his highest level of regular season play.  Might as well get a haul now before he shreds a knee.

Well I already told you he retired in 2022, so his last year was 2021. So if 2020 was his last "good" year, that's not too shabby for a guy who only played 1 more season after...

Dan Campbell is a RaRa Meathead.

It's always only a matter of time before the RaRa Meathead coaches run out of speeches and metaphors. The stupid bite your ankle quotes only go so far.

Brian Daboll is a perfect comp.

I would agree. Between the two i'd think Tomlin would be more likely to go in a "mutual parting of ways".

As overrated as I think Lamar is, Harbaugh has had success with multiple franchise QBs and Lamar is in place (depending on what they do with his deal).

The Steelers need a reset at QB, and even though it's been a shockingly short period of time since Ben retired, they have not really gotten it right... Pickett, Trubisky, Rudolph, Fields, and a pair of old guys.  Reset at QB and coach would feel more likely for the Steelers.

Campbell is actually the perfect example of why it doesn't really matter if teams go with an offensive or defensive minded HC. The most important attribute a HC needs is the ability to be a CEO of the team. They need the right coordinators under them and they need to be able to galvanize their players.  Campbell is a former TE but no one was looking at him to give credit for that offense... it was all Ben Johnson.  Perhaps his act will son grow stale with players, I actually comp him to Rex Ryan (minus the defensive acumen) in terms of being brash and players loving them.

They are just heading towards that franchise that never picks high enough so they try last leg vets.   If you are going with that strategy then you have to have a top level roster.  Pittsburgh doesnt have that, in large part because the defense is old and slow and isnt producing like a traditional Steelers defense.  DK was a get but to me he is more of a good weapon rather than a top WR that can be targeted in any scenario.  The rest are just guys.  I like a few of those guys fot what they are, Frier is a decent TE.  Gainwell is good at what he does.  But he cant be your most valuable offensive piece.

If Rodgers retires, I think there would be a chance he comes back with them 1 more year.  Thats not something I thought id say a few months ago.   But if he retires or they dont want him back, whats the plan?  They should give Malik Willis a short contract audition honestly.   Never know how draft shakes out, once in a while there is a talented QB who falls down a bit and maybe they like the player.  But cant bank on that.  Id be afraid they would go try Kirk Cousins or some BS.

pretty much how I feel... agreed with your analysis of their organization..., although it's entirely possible to find a QB picking in the 20's or trading into the teens. Dart and Shough look like they could be the guys. Bo Nix went 12th, it's been 5 drafts but Love went in the 20s and Hurts in the same draft. I might also say they did not give Justin Fields a fair shake. They were using him correctly, something the Jets couldn't manage to do. So even though it's only been 4 seasons without Ben, it feels like Tomlin and the regime are not equipped to reset.

Cousins is someone I desperately want the Jets to bring in. I want them to say "Kirk, we are drafting our future QB at #2 but this is your team to start the year and will remain your team as long as we are competitive and winning games. We want you to be a role model and mentor but we want you starting and leading us".   BUT, I have a feeling he will want to go somewhere exactly like Pitt (if Rodgers is gone) where he thinks he could be the unquestioned starter for 3ish years.

Jets players pay 10.75% state income tax tax to New Jersey. Las Vegas has zero income tax.

Just saw this, nuts.

Seems like the Ravens reached the point the Eagles did with Andy Reid. He was a good coach but his approach had just grown stale and it was time to move on. May be best for both sides.
