What Are People Going To Say When Denver Wins?

Recommended Posts

Who’s even gonna watch it? The real Super Bowl is Rams/Seahawks. Winner of that should easily roll over whoever wins the AFC.

You trust Darnold in a Superbowl? I don't

Next week, when I unbox, "I've told you for years that Stidham is a top flight quarterback" for the first time, I'm going to expect you all to act like it's true.

Thanks in advance.

Based on what? His career stats are less than impressive

I'm waiting until after he does something impressive to pretend to have said it.

I hate ruining my joke by explaining it.

Ahhh, I hear ya. Just curious, I was hoping that you knew something that I didn't. I was ready to load up on the Broncos.

He had enough success in college to get drafted in the 4th round and since then has demonstrated enough talent to bounce around earning/winning backup jobs for eight years. The teacher in the classroom next to mine exudes Denver orange and blue through his pores, he claims the Broncos O-line is solid and should be strong enough to give him time to make plays, plus playing at home in the thin air is always an advantage to Denver teams that are use to the unique environment.  I don't know much more than that.

While it would surprise me, it wouldn't shock me if the Broncos won. I just don't see Stidham putting up enough points to keep up with Maye. NE would have to be bad

New England -4.5  last time I checked.

I can't help but love NE at that number. I don't think Stidham will do anything against the NE defense.

I love the Broncos at that number.

Remember how earlier this season you were doing your weekly rankings and consistently ranked Denver like 12th in the league and 3rd in the AFC West even when they were leading their division?  I do, Nostradamus.

Why? How?

Home field advantage, a D that can keep games close, and an elite offensive coach who’s going to game plan to something up to protect Stidham.

I hear you. You're not wrong but I don't see Stidham keeping this close. I don't doubt Payton, I doubt the QB.

I’m not a gambler and I could be wrong. I just think the spread is very rich for a 1 seed that’s built on D and lost one home game all year. The over/under of 42-43 implies a lower scoring close game.

I think he is fine. They have enough other elements to overcome the rams.

both strong teams

I’d “love” to see high NYJ draft pick win it all before Jets make playoffs or even .500 record.

I can’t believe Sam is on his 5th NFL team by 28 years old.

Yeah, it would be crazy if he won it all. I hope he's not still "seeing ghosts".

Home dogs in playoffs of 4.5 or more are 9-0 vs the spread all time.   Some of those were backup qbs.   Doesnt mean that matters in this game but its definitely a trend of sorts.

Im having a hard time putting money on Stidham here but..

IIRC Two of those were games in which the Vikings were favored on the road in the NFCCG. Final composite score of those two games, one of which featured backup QB Nick Foles: 79-7

If Maye doesn't turn the ball over often he should have time to take advantage of the Denver DBs.

I think that game plan is to keep the clock ticking on offensive with a running game and long handoff type pass plays and Denver is going to get sacks keeping ALL keeping the clock running.  I expect a low scoring game from an offensive perspective.

I think you’re right. Peyton seems like an a-hole but he’s a great coach and Denver’s D can keep them in any game. I’m not a betting man but I’d take the points 100% and won’t be shocked if the Broncos win outright.

Did people forget how good NE's defense is? They almost killed Stroud last week.

How is Stidham supposed to be better?

Denver has a stout o-line, where Houston traded two of their better o-lineman in the offseason. And they weren't even that great last year.   These two things are not the same.

You're not wrong, but it's Stidham.

Nobody here can make a serious argument for him. He's done nothing in the NFL

Oh for sure.   But d and a conservative gameplan with a decent line stands a better chance than defense and a line where the qb who doesn't do well under pressure is running for his life.

I don't think Denver was that good to begin with. That's more my point. Taking away Nix doesn't make them better in my mind.

I'm not saying that Denver can't win, I think they'll need a terrible performance from Maye for that to happen, that's all. It's more about Maye than Stidham IMO

I mean how many times did Maye put the ball on the ground last week?  Like Ed has said if Davis Mills plays that game Houston wins.
