Who the fock is Shapiro? And Nikki never won ANY thread. I won that focking thread because it was over as soon as I posted that video.

Read the thread: http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=382074&hl=shapiro&page=1

Like I said, props for the link to the video. But I think a bunch of co-winners in that thread: Nikki, you, FeelingMN, Titans, Medstudent, Voltaire, FrankM and myself among them.

After hearing all the evidence, including testimony from the highest scholar on Intelligent Design, a court of law deemed ID to be nothing more than creationism renamed. And it wasn't even close. Let me repeat. The most scholarly person on the topic of ID was almost literally laughed out of court. If you're going to go to bat for ID at least have the intellectual honesty to admit it's just creationism. It has no basis in science.

Happy Golfing.

Maybe God is what science is trying to find. God is all knowledge and truth and understanding.

Science is just looking for explanations for the evidence they've gathered. So yes truth and understanding per se. If there's a god in there, fine that's why there are Christian scientists.

In the greater sense, this is the position of the religions I respect. Really the test of respectability in my book. After getting burned by Gallileo, Catholics have gone this route as have some protestant faiths and Bhuddists thatI know of. When they accept science rather than fight it so there's no conflict and are willing to adapt the faith to fit the realities that science presents, it's a good religion.

Religions taht stick their heads up their asses like the one with creationism or intelligent design need a wake up call. People shouldn't be reuqired to leave their brains at the door of the church or expect lies promoted as truth from the pulpit.

My stance is that Christians should feel that it is blasphemous to think that humans have God completely figured out and that science is our God given ability to understand the reality we live in and understand God better.

Absolutely this. Whatever faith has been developed over time, this will ALWAYS be the case. Trying to figure out God is a life-long pursuit for the Christian and the complete figuring out thing will never happen. It is arrogant to think otherwise as you have stated.

Oh god. The Old Testament thing again? Have you read the original constitution? It allowed slavery and women couldn't vote. Things change, like Christianity. Some things don't, like Islam

I won this thread.

Tell that to your 2nd amendment friends

Well, in their defense, we didn't tweak slavery, or make it less inhumane. We abolished it, just like you and your friends want to abolish the second amendment. They see through the lefts BS. Normal people like me would like to see the regulations tighten up a bit. Libtards want to abolish it. It would be nice if they would just admit it.

I know this is a year old now but what do you make of a guy like Michael Faraday who believed the bible literally - that when there's metaphor you can tell because the rules of metaphor are being followed, and otherwise it's not metaphor?

It didn't limit his contributions to science. Several people like him (and him) credit it for some of their inspiration too.

I've said for a long time this.

If you believe the story, god manifest itself in physical form only one time on Earth. That's how important this was to him. Or it. So God manifests itself, promulgates 10 of the most important rules in the history of mankind. The rules that shape the very relationship between man and God. The rules that reflect the values of God itself.

Coveting my neighbor's ass? Don't do that.

Beating, raping and sodomizing 5 year old boys and girls? Not a fuking peep.

I don't think this says nothing about the invalidity of God. But if you actually study the history, Moses was losing his crowd. The people we're going ape shitt. each other's wives stealing each other stuff worshipping other gods. I was just had to do something. So he disappears for a couple days and then comes back with his magic rocks.

Probably just a coincidence that his magic rocks reflected the current thinking in mindset of society at the time. However, God is eternal and his values are too. You think you might have thought of that whole raping children thing. Especially since God values children more than anything else.

That always pissed off the priest.

Commandment 6

“Thou shalt not commit adultery.”

The sixth and ninth commandments honor human sexuality. This commandment forbids the actual, physical act of having immoral sexual activity, specifically adultery, which is sex with someone else’s spouse or a spouse cheating on their partner. This commandment also includes fornication, which is sex between unmarried people, prostitution, pornography, homosexual activity, masturbation, group sex, rape, incest, pedophilia, bestiality, and necrophilia.

I'm sorry, coming in several centuries later and appending that via a Commandments for dummies book doesn't quite cut it.

Even if Moses writes for the dummies.com website and is inspired by God?

Help me out with all this. Why did they love Jesus so much they were throwing Palm fronds down so his donkey wouldn't have to walk on the dirt on Friday and then on Sunday wait, no then on Saturday he was crucified? And the Jews killed him? But they outsourced to the romans? But they weren't in rome? So they were just basically Italians at that point? So is basically just a mob hit? And he went down to hell and I don't know slayed dragon or sh4it. Then on sunday, he rolled the stone and saw his shadow? And then they all had hard boiled eggs and chocolate in a land without air conditioning or refrigeration? Ah fuuck. I don't understand this holiday at all.

Well isn't that a convenient little catch-all for everything that got missed in the first 10.
